FLASHBACK~ GEMMA'S POV
"Mother what's wrong?" I questioned lowly making sure my voice didn't give her another headache. She had been getting them a lot lately and it scared me, I knew she was human but this is not what I expected her to go through.
"Nothing my dear." She whimpered reaching her shaky palm to my cheek rubbing her thumb along the smooth skin there the motion also wiping away the tears cascading from my eyes. No four year old should have to see their mother this way, her face pale, her eyes void of emotion besides pain.
"Gemma, go get your brother." My fathers gruff voice frightened me making me jump, my skin felt colder than normal as it lost contact with my mothers warm human skin.
"But father, I want to stay with mom." I pleaded my voice cracking slightly as more warm tears began to spill down my cheeks making them turn cold by the time they spilled onto my neck or chest.
"I said go." Father growled his fangs growing due to my disobedience and the knowledge of what was to come. I did as I was told this time and raced out of the room and down the hall where my brother's room was, I opened the door and felt the ache in my chest at the sight of my two year old brother sobbing in his sleep clutching onto his fluffy tan pillow. His body shook violently as the sobs racked through his small frame moving the bed slightly with each shake.
"Harry." I whimpered shaking his shoulder to awake him trying to stop the tears from falling onto his smooth cheek, after a moment of shaking him, his eyes finally opened glimmering a bright green due to the wet tears that had slipped passed his closed eyelids while he slept.
"Gem?" He questioned rubbing his face to get rid of the remaining sleep in his young eyes as they filled with hope, he has not been able to see our mother for 2 weeks, since she got sick.
"It's time." I told him my voice coming out in barley a whisper as I helped him out of the bed, he clutched onto my arm tightly as we walked the only noise being the sound of his bare feet padding across the wooden ground. He didn't release my arm till we reached the familiar oak door of our parents bedroom, where my mother lay on her death bed, not having much longer in her short human life. I knew this was not the end of her, when she got to close to death my father would save her with a simple venomous bite, but after that bite, my mother, the woman who raised me, wouldn't remember who I was.
"You can come in." My mothers weak voice reached us from outside the door, my brother shoved the door open immediately running to my moms side, I on the other hand stayed at the door for another minute, just glancing into the room at my family, everyone broken up at the thought of our future without a mother.
"Gemma come here darling." My mother told me motioning with a weak hand for me to come forward and to her side where she could speak to me easier. I obeyed without a second thought and was at her side within seconds, my hand wrapped tightly around her own just trying to hold her here, with us. I sobbed quietly with Harry as we clutched onto all we had left of our mother, the strongest woman we had ever known, was now crumpling to death right in front of our own eyes.
"Don't cry for me, you must be strong." She told us, tears slipping past her pale green eyes as she held onto both of our hands spreading her warmth through to us, a mothers love is the only thing can warm our cold dead hearts. The bad thing about that warmth is the breaking sensation that followed soon after.
"My strong little soldiers." My mother cooed softly the light in her eyes dwindling to nothing as her head dropped onto the pillow.
"Go into your room children." My father told us moving to my mothers side, his own eyes were glassy with tears but I couldn't afford to comfort him, so instead I took Harry and left the room, going into his room where we huddled on his bed cuddling together sobbing into each others shoulders. I jumped when my mothers screams were heard echoing through our home, the transformation had begun, meaning, my mother was gone.
Next morning*********

"Gemma, get up." My fathers typical gruff voice echoed through my brain shocking me out of my sleep quickly. I rubbed my eyes and looked up to see my father fully dressed, his fist clutched around a backpack full of my clothing.
