Out of Time ❧ Kai Parker ✓

Chapter Twenty Seven

In the short amount of Time that I have been back in Mystic Falls, I have found out that Kai did the merge and won. He merged with his younger brother inside of his twin sister so I guess that works. Jo is getting married in a few hours, and Caroline is a vampire with no humanity, or maybe she has humanity now honestly it's so confusing.

Everyone is rushing around getting ready for the wedding. I am only going because Joshua will there and I know how much Kai hates him. Bonnie said that she would get Kai out if the prison world after the wedding, which I don't believe

I walk around Salvatore's house looking for things that I might like. Both of the brothers are gone, getting ready for the wedding or whatever I don't really care. I walk into Damon's room and see nothing of interest. Walking back into the living room, I see people, but one stands out from the rest. "Kai?" I say bearly above a whisper.

He turns to look at me and so do the other people, his face lights up with a smile as he wraps his arms around me and gives me a hug. "I've missed you so much," he says and I hug him back.

Refusing to think about the letter that keeps trying to make it's said to my mind, I reply to him. "I missed you too. Why didn't you tell me you did the merge?"

He pulls away from me, "I didn't really have time, not long after that I was in 1903." He explains. 

We spend the rest of the day catching up on things that we missed out on in each other's lives. I found out that Jo is expecting and Bonnie was the one that trapped him after he apologized. There wasn't much that I could tell him. Not a lot of interesting stuff happened to me.

Kai and I stood outside the building of the church that the wedding is taking place. He is dressed in a suit and I am wearing a light blue dress. "You should wear dresses more often, they suit you." He says.

"Yeah, not going to happen. I hate dressing up." I complain to him. He smiles and places the cloaking spell on us.

We walk into the church and see everyone gathering around. We make out way unnoticed to the front of the room.

Alaric and Jo are giving their vows during the wedding ceremony and I and Kai stand there watching them. Kai put us under a cloaking spell so no one knew we were there. "Neither one of us should be here right now. We've spent our life dodging fate and beating the odds." Oh, the irony.

Elena and Damon look at each other happily while Alaric speaks, it makes me sick." But, because we did, I got to meet you, the most beautiful, hilarious and intimidatingly brilliant woman I have ever known. You inspire me, you've shown me that happiness is actually something that I can have in my life. And so..." He drags on. He grabs the ring from Tyler, "I promise to be with you, and love you, and to dodge fate with you-" He puts the ring on Jo's finger, "-for the rest of our lives."

Jo begins to cry, "Josette?" The reverend says and it is almost our time to shine. Kai holds the knife in his hand while I hold a stake.

"Oh god, that's a tough act to follow." She says and everyone laughs, "Here it goes-- Alaric Saltzman, you are..." She stops suddenly and gasps loudly, looking weak and in pain. Alaric looks alarmed. I smile as I watch Kai stand her.

"Jo? Jo? Jo? Oh my god. Jo? Jo? Jo?" Jo starts to sway on her feet as blood begins to pour from the front of her dress. "Jo? Oh god, no!" She falls forward and is caught by Alaric, revealing that Kai and I are standing behind her with a bloody hunting knife in Kai's hands. "No! No, no, no, no."

Kai leans down to Alaric, "I was gonna wait 'til the 'death do us apart' bit, but it seemed a little on the nose. Am I right?"

Alaric is on his knees on the ground now, and he's holding Jo, who is white as a ghost and looks as though she's in bad shape. Joshua stands up from his seat and rushes toward us, but Kai holds up a hand, magically creating a high-pitched noise that incapacitates everyone at the ceremony. Liv, Tyler, Stefan and Caroline, all grab their ears and scream in pain as we smile gleefully. "Miss us? No? Oh well."

The noise Kai has magically created is so powerful that all of the glasses and windows shatter, causing Damon and Elena to fall to the ground. When Elena makes an impact, she slams her head against the ground and is knocked unconscious. Damon desperately pulls her up onto his lap and looks devastated as the wedding ceremony erupts into chaos.
