"How did it go?"

I sat next to him at the work table in his classroom.

"Well, being that my classes are blocked, the first class went very well! We introduced ourselves with the class, played some games. It was great!"

I loved how enthusiastic he was about it. I've never seen anyone so happy talking about their classes. It just made him more perfect.

"I'm glad it went well!"

"Yeah, me too! I've been a nervous wreck but now I'm fine! Enough about me, how did your classes go?"

"Ehh. Same ol', same ol'. Nothing to exciting to me, I do the same thing every year." I let out a sigh.

"Why? Why not change it up a bit every year?"

"I've tried, either way no one has fun."

We began talking about things I could do to make it more fun for my class.

"Believe it or not, I used to be GOOD at this whole teaching thing." I said sarcastically.

"Cut yourself some slack, I bet you're an amazing teacher!"

"That's not what the kids think..." I said insecurely.

"You wanna know what I think? I think you're an amazing teacher, and an amazing person who needs to let herself shine to her students because from what I'm seeing, you're over-thinking it all. That's why they might not be having fun."

"How is that even possible?!?"

"What do you mean?" He sounded worried.

"How the hell are you THAT accurate when I've only known you for about--- 2 hours?"

We both laughed.

"Well, I can just see it in your eyes. Your meant to do this, you're just so hard on yourself."

He grabbed my hand.

I felt like I was frozen. I couldn't move. I didn't know how to react! I'm sure he was just being nice. He was just trying to help me, it means nothing.

To be honest, I'm really hoping it means something.

He saw me look down at my hand in his.

"Uhh- I'm so sorry."

He let's go of my hand.

"I probably just made that super awkward. I'm so so sor--"

I cut him off.

"James, it's okay. I know you were just trying to be comforting."

"Yeah, sure. I was just... Comforting."

"What do you mean?"

"Umm- it's nothing. Never mind... Do you mind showing me around now?"

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Let's go."

Oh God, please let this be something.
