I chose not to kill Ysana because she has a good heart, deep, deep down. She only killed my father because of the pressure that her father put on her. She's having a tough time fighting him, but she is fighting him, because she knows what's right... Plus she kind of likes me.
The nobles, on the other hand? They have no remorse for what they did. They abused the poor for decades, stole their land, and just stockpiled their money. For that, they must pay.
"We're stripping their families of any land rights. We are also taking their money. On top of that, the nobles that were in charge of this will be hung. Any questions?" I ask.
"None at all, I love it." Brokk smiles.
"Yeah, I have a question." Emma raises her hand. "What do we do with that land?"
"Until we assign a new noble family to take care of the land, Brokk will assign some of his guards to watch over the land." I tell her.
"Don't worry, I promise that my men will ensure that everyone is playing nicely." Brokk says.
Nobody else has any questions, so we make preparations as quickly as we can. The nobles will be hung, and their bodies will be on display in front of the castle to remind people not to mess with us.
Brokk is worried about some people trying to free the nobles, so security will be tight at the hanging, and nobody will be allowed to see the prisoners before the event.
Thankfully, nothing happens before we're able to hang the prisoners. We bring them out, remind the crowd why the nobles are being hung, and hang them. Nobody dares stop us from executing them.
After the event, Brokk and I are talking in the throne room.
"I could see it in their eyes. Some of those in the crowd wanted to stop this, but they knew that with our guards there, it would be impossible."
"I don't get how anyone would be willing to die for these jerks." I scoff.
"These nobles aren't much different than you are, m'lady. You have many loyal servants who would die for you."
"I consider myself a good person. That's the difference."
"Some people aren't looking to follow good people. They just want money, power, whatever they can get from the nobles. With them gone, now, and promises that might have been held are now null and void... Of course, so are any debts, so I'm sure there are plenty of peasants celebrating."
"Zezanna!" Heroth shouts as he enters the throne room. "Have you seen Emmaline around? I saw her at the hanging, but she seems to have disappeared since then."
"Oh? Where have you looked?" I ask.
"All over the castle. None of the guards have seen her either. Last they saw, she headed into her room, but I couldn't find anything there."
"I'll take a look." I say.
Heroth and Brokk follow me to Emma's room. We walk in, and nothing really seems too out of place. Other than a few papers on her desk, everything in her room is super tidy. I glance through the papers, but they just seem to be about laws that people want passed.
"We won't find anything here." I sigh.
"Then where should we look?" Heroth asks.
"Pardon me," A guard says, knocking on the door. As she walks in, she hands me a letter. "This is from Rosth. From my understanding, this is for your eyes only. I assume it's a love letter."
"I'll take a look at that." I mutter, taking the letter from her.
I try to keep a calm look while I read over the letter. This is no love letter... Ysana is letting me know that she has Emma, and that the only way I can get her back is to visit her by myself. If I bring backup, she will murder Emma, as well as anybody that I bring with me.
