Queen Zezanna - Chapter 36

Miligan creates the portals, and then tells us, "The portals will be active for 24 hours. Be warned, anybody can access either end once you have passed through. My powers are waning, so I must return to rest, but do not worry. I will meet you once again one day soon."

She disappears, and we are left to stair at the portals.

Ingrell passes through first, taking a small army of fighters with him.

"The next time we meet, it shall be as the newly reinstated queen of Asios, and the second in line for the throne of Balazi." He smiles before passing through the portal.

"Are you ready to pass through?" Heroth asks me.

"I'm nervous, but it's time to finally put this to an end. I'm tired of running." I tell him.

"Good. Let's get this over with, then. Everyone, on me."

Heroth leads the way. As soon as we pass through, we appear in the washroom of the castle, where a very scared Vinill is trying to cover his privates as he yells for his guards.

"Guards, guards, quickly! The traitors - they're here!"

"Sorry, bud, but unless your soldiers are fast as the lighting, you won't be getting out of here alive." I tell him.

"I'm not going down without a fight!" He shouts, grabbing the nearest item to use as a weapon - a short wooden pole with a brush on the end used to clean his back.

"Truly terrifying." I tell him, as I thrust my sword at him.

Without any armor to protect him, and without anywhere to run in his tub, my sword easily cuts through his chest, and out the other side.

"He's down, but I can hear his guards coming down the hallway." Brokk tells us.

"Then stand back from the door." Ysana smirks.

We do as she says, and watch as the door is thrown open by a guard. As soon as Ysana sees the door move, she lets off her magic.

A giant snake shoots out of her hands, growing as it approaches the guards. It opens its mouth as it comes close to them, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth reminiscent of a shark. It shoots straight through the top half of the first guard's head, swallowing up his brain as it continues towards the second guard, who is just screaming at the top of his lungs.

A third guard goes to swing at the snake. All the chaos being caused, though, gives us the opportunity that we need. Emma stands back with me, and we shoot into the doorway with our arrows. We may not be all that fast compared to real archers, but we take down several of the guards closest to the door.

Heroth and Brokk are in charge of taking it from there. They jump into the hallway, and start slicing at the enemies on either side. With so many enemies so close, neither side can use long range attacks, unless they want to risk hitting their allies.

Of course... The snake is already there, and already causing chaos. It continues to attack at the legs of the nearest guards, giving Heroth a significant edge in his fight.

"Vinill is defeated!" I tell the guards. "I, Queen Zezanna, reclaim my throne! Anybody who dares stand in my way will be defeated!"

More guards are rushing towards us, but there are also plenty who are running away. Either they are afraid of the battle, which I can't blame them for, or they believe that I am the rightful ruler of Asios. I prefer to believe that it is the later.

Ysana's magic is running low, but in this enclosed space, she's able to make the most out of her limited magic. She shoots a line of fire over Brokk's shoulder, burning the nearest guards, and causing several more further back to panic and flee.
