By the time we arrive in Myrhan, Ellysia's largest port city, you can hardly even tell that there was ever blood on the floor.
Tzeeru apologizes profusely to everyone, swearing that the route we took should have been clear of pirates. He promises that he will try to give them a nice bonus when they return to their city, but until then, they still have a lot more stops to make.
Though this city is pretty large, the group only has a few small supplies to drop off. None of them have anything to do with the mercenaries, according to Tzeeru. There's some medicine for the local hospital, as well as some wares for a few shops.
"Just go off and check out the city while we get things moved around." Tzeeru tells us.
"Are you sure? We could help." I tell him.
"Hmm... Well, the local mob might get a bit aggressive, so perhaps one of you should stay with us to act as muscle. Brokk?"
"Sure." He nods his head. "Might as well let the kids go out and have fun by themselves."
Brokk is impressed with all that we've managed to do to get here so far. We've fought some hard fights. I know he wants to be there with me 24/7, but he knows that he must let me go sometimes. I can't grow if he just holds my hand and leads me through any troubles. Besides, I have my friends here with me.
We slip into a nearby cafe to get a quick bite to eat. As we sit down, we can hear some nearby patrons talking about the mob in the city.
"I'm starting to grow tired of the way Elso is treating the poor people of this city. Did you see that bruise on her arm that Lola was trying to hide? He must have hit her again... Probably cuz she's not making enough money for him at this cafe."
"That bastard is just squeezing her for everything she's got. But what can we do about it? We can complain to ourselves all we want, but he's got too much power. There's nobody that can stop him."
Emma puts down the muffin she was chewing on, and heads over to where the men are talking. She takes a seat beside the larger one.
"Nobody, huh? I think I know a few people."
"Lady, don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong." One of the men warns her.
"You two are talking far too loud. You see that guy in the corner? He's been eying you. I think he might be working for our little friend."
The two men nervously glance over at the man in the corner, who tries his best to look fully invested in the newspaper he's reading.
"If you think you can do something, we can give you all the information we have."
"Not here." Emma tells him.
"Of course. Follow us back to our place."
The men slip out with Emma, and we follow shortly after. As we walk, we make sure to keep our eyes out for anybody else that might try to follow us. That man who was in the corner will probably go tell his boss, but someone else might follow us.
"We definitely won't have the element of surprise." Ysana complains.
"To hell with it." Heroth shrugs. "We can do this without it."
We follow the men to an abandoned house near the edge of town. They look both ways before entering, and then close the door after Emma enters.
"Hey, hey, hold up!" I shout.
We run to the door, and start banging on it. As we do, we hear some steps behind us. We whirl around, and find a dozen people standing there.
"In this city, we don't take kindly to outsiders trying to mess with our boss." A lady tells us.
