23: The Last Chapter (pt#1)

A/N: I still can't believe I'm actually posting the last chapter of Caliginous (well part one of it) I'm literally just so proud of this book and thank you! For all of you who have actually read the entire book and didn't sleep. I hope you enjoy, bye!

Previously on Caliginous:

When we got inside the hut, we both stopped dead in our tracks because we saw an old lady, examining the gem Sebastian found in that cave. If I'm correct, I think that's the witch, the woman that gave the Queen Caliginous.

"Sarahina, my dear child!" The Witch said as she wrapped her arms around Queen Sarahina. I could tell that she was hugging her way too tightly because the Queen looked like she was getting suffocated.
"Anna, how are you? It's been so long!" The Queen said to Anna, the witch.
"Yes... years," Anna said, turning her gaze at me, "I see you've brought Anastasia's daughter here."
"Hi, I'm Ella. Wait! How did you know that I-"
"Child, I know almost everything and everyone," Anna said, giving me a little smile.
"Well, then I guess you must know why we're here?"
"Ya girl and I think yo witch should come too since ya might need my help," the witch, also known as, Anna said.
"That'll be just splendid! We'll need all the help we can get," the Queen said giving her a little nod.
"So what are we waitin' for, let's go and cage the beast," Anna said and clapped her hands in a forceful way and poof! In a split second, we were back in the palace. Impressive much?

"Oh, so here's the dog who's been barking nonstop," Anna said giving King Aldrum a cold look that could have froze anyone... literally.
"Who's this old lady?"
"Who ya calling old? Have you looked in the mirror lately, you look like an angry gorilla," Anna said and the King keep silent.

If we weren't in a do or die situation, I would have laughed my head off.

The King must have seen the gem in Anna's hands because he suddenly said, "Sodum Compulray!" plangently and the gem flew into the king's greedy hands.
"What now?" The King said, laughing.
The witch clapped her hands and the gem flew back to her, "seriously, Aldrum, that's the best you got?" The Witch said, "well I'd love to waste my time on worthless dogs, but I guess it's time for one to go into his cage," and with that, she rubbed the gem, "Aldrum the fourth!" She shouted as the King vanished into thin air and was now in the gem. I could see a little version of the King in the gem, banging his little hands on the glass.

"Time for a celebration!" The witch cheered and clapped her hands, a large table with mouth-watering food appeared in front of our eyes. All that drama did make me hungry.

Jake sprinted to me and wrapped his arms around me, "next time I'll save you, OK?" He said as he peaked my cheeks. The Witch was coming in my direction so I loosen the grip from Jake and smiled at her.

"Here, take the gem. Don't let it fall into the wrong hands," Anna said.
"Thanks," I said as I took the gem from her hands.
"I really mean it because if Aldrum breaks out from the gem, he would become stronger than before," the witch warned and I nodded in response.
"So, do you want to eat something?" Jake said. I guess he was really hungry by the way his stomach was growling.
"Actually, I'll skip. As much as I wanna run to the table and stuff my mouth, I can't, cause I think I need a little rest. After all that has happened, I'm just too tired," I said as a yawn escaped my mouth. "Well, then I guess I'll see you tomorrow," Jake said as I kissed his cheeks and went to my room to recharge myself.

It was hard to find my room since all the door looked the same but thankfully, I spotted it. I opened the door but I guess the handle of it was loose or something cause it came right in my hand and of course I gain a little weight so I fell flat on my butt, dropping the gem, which was in my hand. I groaned and quickly picked my clumsy butt up and practically stormed towards the gem, thank god, it didn't break.

I went to my room, closing the door behind, and then went straight to the restroom to change, when I came back, I put the gem on the dressing table and practically threw myself into my very comfortable bed.

It was the middle of the night. I woke up with fright because I had heard a woman crying very plangently. I realised that I wasn't in the palace anymore, I was in my house. After thinking, I decided to face the music and go downstairs to see what was all the commotion about and to look for the Queen and the boys... I wonder what happened to them?

When I got downstairs, I saw a dead woman on the floor. All sorts of unhinged thoughts detonate in my mind. Then suddenly I heard weird, and blood-curdling voices, from behind me. When I turned around, I was surprised to see that the dead woman who was on the floor was now on her feet and she had a very aesthetic gem in her hands. The gem was shiny red.

She started to speak in a really low voice, but her words made no sense. It was like she was speaking in a different language. She said "Echa Lompus Gray! Sampum Theory Lora!"

I cleared my throat and said "I can't understand what you're trying to say... mam." then she suddenly started shouting, "Take the gem, just grab it," and then in an even louder tone, "TAKE IT!" I closed my eyes in trepidation and fear.
"OPEN YOUR EYES ELLA! OPEN YOUR EYES! DON'T YOU DARE CLOSE THEM ON A TIME LIKE THIS! EEELLLAAA!!!"

I woke up screaming. Thank god, It was just a nightmare. Part of me was contented with the dream cause at least I got to see my mother.

I grabbed the glass of water which was on the dressing table from the previous nights and drank it while drinking it, I suddenly remembered something. I glanced back at the dressing table, praying that I'm mistaken, but off course, I wasn't since the gem was nowhere in sight. "Oh my gosh, no!" I said a loud to myself. Where did it go? I dropped the glass of water, wetting my bed and started searching for the gem. Oh! Where's the damn thing?!

I rushed outside to ask if anyone took it for, I dont know, safe keeping? And I saw Queen Sarahina.
"Your majesty! Please tell me you've seen the gem, I've lost it! Um, have you?" I asked eagerly.
"Child, he killed her, he killed the witch, he killed Anna, and he killed my son too. Nothing can stop Aldrum, all of this was a waste of time. I failed you."
