The next day, Reaper left his room early... He didn't want to wake the other God... He also didn't want the other God to try and stop him...

Quickly, the God of Death hurried out to do his job. He caught up with his list and soon only had a few hundred names left... It was nice to have that...

He swiftly went to one name... A girl that was about to commit suicide...

She was standing on a chair, a noose tight around her neck. Tears glistened in her eyes softly as she looked to the ceiling of her room.

"Dear, why must you do this?" A soothing voice called out, taking the girl's hand.

Death instantly knew who it was before his eyes found him. Xasilinta.

The God of Protection caressed the sweet girl's cheek as she took deep breaths, planning her next move.

"Don't you know who you're going to leave behind?" The new god whispered to her, his eyes shone with sadness. "You're father needs you... You are his only tether to this world... You don't want to leave him..."

The girl whimpered, her hands slowly going to her neck. What was she thinking...

"Come on now... What of your crush? He does notice you... He's been frowning so much lately... Seeing how you're not smiling... How you're not happy and look so tired and sad... You don't want to hurt him too, do you?" Xas continued to rub the young one's cheek.

The child shook her head, her hands going behind her head. She couldn't do it...

"Think of all the people you'd make sad if you leave... You can't leave them... Let them know what's going on... Let them become your light in this darkness that surrounds you..." He told her, using his magic to keep the stool still.

The girl quickly untied the noose, shakily getting off the stool... She fell to her knees, bursting into tears.

Reaper looked at his list... The girl's name gone... Her name not being crossed out, but... Saved...

The old God looked up at the other, but he was gone. A small smile tugged at the mourning God, but he refused... So he went back to work.

He worked hard, though some of the people were saved... Some of them were helped... Some of them were stopped... All because of Xasilinta... He really was the God of Protection...

When Reaper went back home, the other god waited for him. A kind smile was there...

"Come on, we don't want them to get angry with me again." The monster held his hand out, his smile never leaving.

The God of Death let the God of Protection hold him, the feeling of light surrounding him in the endless misery and shadows... Just like he said to that young girl...
