"Rey." Finn calls out to me across the room when he sees me. He makes his way through the maze of people at the party. He has two drinks in his hands, holding them above everyone he passes, making sure they don't spill.

"Great party, isn't it? Especially on the last day of spring break." He says handing me a drink.

"Yeah, great." I say sarcastically as I take the drink.

Poe comes up behind us and lays his hands on our shoulders. "Can you guys believe freshmen like us, can go to a party like this?"

"No." Finn says looking around the room in awe. I roll my eyes. "I don't see what the big deal is."

Poe glares at me. "The big deal? The most popular kids are here and most of them are seniors."

"And?"

"We're lucky. We're only freshmen."

"Okay. If you say so."

A senior comes over to us. I've seen him around more than I liked to. He's said a couple of mean words to me a couple of times. He's really the only person I hate. He's pretty big. He has black hair that comes down to his chin. He looks us up and down with a disapproving face. "I thought only important people were invited."

Poe is about to say something when I come in. "Well then, I guess we're important." I smirk at him.

"You?"

I stay silent standing my ground.

"You look like a scavenger."

My smirk fades and I glare at him as he looks down at me, and I do the same.

"Ben! Come on!" I hear a ginger haired guy call out in the background. We keep eye contact for a second then he walks away. I immediately relax and turn towards Finn and Poe.

"Thanks, Rey."

"No problem. He shouldn't be able to talk to anybody like that just because he wants to. Anyways, so you guys just want to go? I'm pretty bored and I'm pretty sure we'd have a better time at my place."

They nod and we go to my place. They end up going home around ten, even though it's a school night. I lay on my bed and go to sleep.

The next morning I ride the bus to school, as always. My parents are never around to drive me. When I get to school, I meet up with Poe, and Finn like I do every morning. We walk each other to our lockers. As I put my books in my locker, I can see they're still depressed about last night at the party. "Guys, it was just a party. They'll be plenty more."

"I know. I was just really looking forward to it." Poe says as he opens his locker. He puts a couple of books in to lighten his book bag. He closes the locker door and we go to our first class. Sadly, my first class has Ben and neither Poe nor Finn.

I walk in the classroom and sit in my assigned seat, which, of course, is next to Ben's. I see him walk through the door and shoves everybody in his way and sits down. I roll my eyes. He looks at me and glares. "Why are you here?"

"This has been my seat for a whole semester, Idiot."

"Well, not surprised I didn't notice you." He pauses. "Because you're nothing."

I look at him a bit shocked. He can see right through me. I look away from him. I feel tears starting in my eyes. I blink them away. Usually I can stand what he says, but that hit too close to home for one reason. He's right. My parents left me at a young age. They never came back. I've never heard from them. They were drunks and went out to bars some nights and wouldn't even come back until the next day. One night they went out and never came back. Ever since then, I've never felt like I wasn't worth anything because even my parents knew that. I felt like nothing.
