Josh

After Hayven's little 'break down', we all were sent into a room. The room was full of cages, most holding teens like us and some of them full of walkers. A curtain lines the wall. Hands shoot out of the cage's bars, trying to reach us. I ignore them. Soon enough, we're all pushed into a cage just like everything else. The room is silent. The cage was bigger than most, and I'm pretty sure it isn't going to be silent like this for long.

Just as I expected, the curtain opens, showing a room full of people. We all look at each other. I realized we've been put into different cages. Abi, Carl, Oliver and I are all in the one; Julia, Hayven, Dominic, Tanner, and Kate in another. The crowd breaks into a roar of cheers when a walker is shoved into our cage.

I watch as Abi sprints towards the open door, "Abi, stop!" I scream as a guard turns his head towards her.

Her head turns my way and pain flashes in her eyes as a needle injects in her arm. She gets shoved back into the cage. I rush over to her, grabbing her before she falls.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Jenny starts to laugh, "Welcome to the biggest performance we've ever had! As you just saw, this young lady tried to test her luck to run. So, we've injected her with a poison, that our lovely doctor put together, that slowly kills."

Cheers are heard throughout the audience, leaving us to gasp in horror. I hold Abi in my arms. I watch as her face turns a lighter shade. How can they watch her die and do nothing?

"Abi," I cry, "Abi!" My vision becomes slightly blurry.

"How sweet," Jenny laughs, her hand coming up to clap. The crowd laughs along.

A scream is suddenly heard. My head snaps up, seeing my sister and her best friend side by side, both bows held out as if they just let arrows fly. That's exactly what they did. As screams fill my ears, I turn towards Jenny. All I see is two arrows through her hand.

"Bring the walkers in! Double them!" Jenny screams, "Kill them all!"

Walkers get thrown in, one by one. I don't move. Abi lifts her arm, running her fingers over her skin.

"Just protect yourself," She whispers, "I only have a minute left."

I now realize the glowing clock ticking down on her arm. "No," I blink my eyes to clear my vision, "I'm staying here."

We lay there in silence as everything goes down.

Julia

We shot her hand. Both arrows are in her hand. She has doubled the walkers, Abi's almost dead in my brother's arms, and everyone is hacking away at the creatures coming for us.

I examine the scene as a walker is too close to Carl. He's having trouble getting himself together. Quickly, I load my bow. Draw, aim, fire. The arrow pierces the head of the walker. Carl sends me a thankful smile, and I turn to shoot another coming at me.

The walkers seem to never stop. Mostly everyone is dead now. A cry erupts throughout the room and I look over to see both Abi and Josh's bodies being feasted on by walkers. I've lost my brother now. Tears sting my eyes as I try to focus on the next walker heading my way.

"Gather yourself together. I've got it." I hear a distant voice yell over to me.

I slowly move myself to the back of the cage. Tears stream down my face as I take in what just happened. This is it. I knew it would come.

Over the course of these caged fights, several screams ring out. Oliver, Kate, and Tanner all fall to the ground. Blood spots become more visible on my face as the more people die.

Why do I have to watch my friends all die? Why can't I move? Hayven's body lays in front of me and I watch Carl fall to the ground.

I stand there, numb, as if it's all a bad dream. A bad dream. That's it, it's all a bad dream.

Ring

I open my eyes slowly, taking in the surroundings, "Hey, lunch is over."

I stare up at my best friend, Hayven, in confusion, "You slept the whole lunch."

That's it, it was all a bad dream.
