Chapter 20 - The Forbidden Forest

Saturday came quickly. You and Draco stayed up in the common room until everyone had left for their dorms. It was almost midnight when the two of you finally made it to the corridor under the tallest tower in Hogwarts. The plan was to wait there for Potter and Granger. Getting them expelled was finally going to happen, you could already feel the success coming and so could Draco.
"I can't wait to see the look on Potter's face when he sees us." You whisper to Draco, leaning against a wall as you wait.

It had probably only been fifteen minutes when Professor McGonagall walked by.
"What on earth do you two think you're doing? Out at this time!" She walked over, visibly angry and grabbed both of you by an ear. You were being dragged along on McGonagall's right while Draco was on her left.
"Detention! For the both of you!" She was now shouting, she could've probably woken up the entirety of Hogwarts at this point.
"And twenty points from Slytherin! Wandering around the castle in the middle of the night, how dare you-"
"You don't understand, Professor, Harry Potter's coming!" Draco pleaded, wincing from the pain of being dragged by his ear.
"He's got a dragon!" You shout, not as loud as Professor McGonagall was.
"What utter rubbish! How dare you tell such lies! Come on - I shall see  Professor Snape about you two!" And so she did, Professor McGonagall dragged the two of you to Professor Snape.

"Professor, I caught two students from your house sneaking around the castle. I'll leave it in your hands to deal with them, I've already given them both detention." Professor Snape nodded as Professor McGonagall walked off, closing the door behind her and leaving the room in silence as Snape eyed both of you.
"How utterly disappointed I am in you two. I thought better of you than to be caught in the castle at one in the morning." You just look down, feeling a bit angry that you lost Slytherin twenty points.
"Now, tell me, why were you two out of your beds at this time in the morning?" You and Draco both looked at each other, as if deciding which of you would talk first.
"Professor, Potter was trying to smuggle a dragon out of the castle!" You spoke first, wanting to put as much blame on Potter that you could. It was, after all, his fault you were out and therefore, his fault you were caught and lost twenty house points.
"Really? Do you have anything to say on this matter, Malfoy?" It sounded like Snape didn't believe you, as much as he wanted to.
"She's telling the truth Professor! I heard Potter and Granger talking about watching an egg hatch."
"Then we both ran down to Hagrid's hut, we saw the dragon with our own eyes!" Snape narrowed his eyes as he listened to both of you try to make him believe you.
"That'll be all, I'll see into this, go back to your dormitories and don't make any detours. Off you go." You both nod, thankful that no more points were taken away and you were able to leave without being shouted at. Snape was rather scary when he shouted.

A few weeks had passed since you were caught by McGonagall. There was only a week left until your exams and you were very confident you were going to get all Os. One morning, you received a note from an owl you didn't recognise at breakfast. Draco got the same one as you both read them to yourselves.
      'Your detention will take place at eleven o'clock tonight. Meet Mr Filch in the Entrance Hall.

Great. You hadn't forgotten about your detention, but since it was so long after you were caught, part to you hoped Professor McGonagall had forgotten. The fact that your detention was with Potter and Granger was horrible. Detention was bad enough, but detention with Gryffindors - especially Potter - was even worse.

Before eleven o'clock that night, you and Draco made your way to the Entrance Hall. You two were the first people there, Filch took joy in the pain in your faces as you waited for the other two to arrive.
"Maybe next time you think about breaking school rules, you'll remember this night." He chuckled and just a few minutes later, Potter, Granger and even Longbottom made their way towards you. You never knew Longbottom received detention too.
