Eight years ago.
Alec was punctual.
It was exactly seven thirty and he just pulled over the sidewalk. The door opened and he stepped out. I walk over to him and his gorgeous face was smiling at me. I smiled back.
"You're on time." I said to him.
His charming grin never left his lips as he leaned against the vehicle. I just noticed he didn't use his beloved truck. "I'm never late."
"What happened to your truck?" I asked him.
"Oh, I figured if I were to impress girls, the Audi would do a way better job than the truck." He shrugged and gestured for me to get in the car which I did.
"And when I said to impress girls, I meant to impress you." He winked before driving away from the building and to the direction of Crosswood Prep.
Butterflies started blooming in my stomach and I fought back the urge to squeal. Oh god, where were these words coming from?
"Claire, am I allowed to park in school this early?"
I nodded, but when I realized that Alec has his attention on the road, I reply, "Yeah you are."
"But can we pass by drive through first?" he asked excitedly as he turned to face me for a second before returning his gaze back on the empty road.
"Yeah, sure." I nodded.
"Oh good." He said. "If you said no, I would've starved to death before lunch came. I skipped breakfast because I was going to be late in picking you up if I didn't."
"Alec!" I exclaimed out loud, my voice raising a little bit like a mother scolding her child.
"What?" he turned to me to give me his innocent look, pouting.
"You didn't have to skip breakfast!" I poked his arm.
"Hey! Don't hurt me!"
"I'm not!"
"I skipped because I wasn't in the mood to wash anything after eating and cooking." He defended himself, making a right turn towards a local twenty four hour coffee shop with a drive through. "What do you like? They have croissants, and sandwiches here."
"No thanks." I shook my head. "I already ate."
"Coffee?" Alec suggested as he points to the giant sized menu by the window. "Tea? Juice?"
"I've already had my fair share of coffee." I smiled at him. Honestly, I wasn't able to drink coffee this morning, only because I ran out and forgot to grab some yesterday after school. I blamed Alec for that but he doesn't need to know. I only lied to him because he's been paying a lot for me recently, mostly the food, and we only met Monday, and today's Friday.
He eyed me skeptically before giving the waitress by the window his order "One chocolate croissant, one ham and cheese sandwich, and two coffees." He said to girl. "Just leave some sugar and cream packets with the order."
Once we got our orders, we left the coffee shop and head straight to school. Alec parked the car nearest to the school doors when we arrived, the food still untouched. He hopped out of the car and skipped to my side of the door and opened it for me before I could even find the handle.
"Let's go!" he grinned and raised the tray of coffee and paper bag of food. How on earth is he able to carry that in one hand?
"Why are you so jolly in the morning?" I raised a brow at him and stepped out of the vehicle.
"Because," he stated. "I'm with you."
And I blushed, hard with butterflies in my stomach doing somersaults. He slung his arm over my shoulder as we started walking. I didn't push it off. I wanted it to stay there. I bit back a smile that's threatening to spill from my lips.
