A/N: this chapter gets a bit messy and sort of rushed closer to the end, I'm sorry 😬
I walked into my first period, headed to my usual seat when I noticed the one next to it was occupied. My breath hitched in my throat and I stopped in my tracks as I saw who it was
Isaac Lahey.
He looked up and smirked at me, staring at me with hard eyes. Gulping down the lump in my throat, I walked the rest of the way to my seat and sat down, avoiding his gaze. I kept my eyes to the front as I heard him chuckle beside me.
"You're unusually quiet, [y/l/n]." He said. "Why don't you just ask the question I know you're dying to ask."
I let out a breath, closed my eyes for moment, thinking, am I really about to do this? I shifted in my seat so I was partially facing him, keeping a stone cold glare in my eyes.
"What are you doing back?" I asked.
He smirked at my attempt at a strong exterior. He shifted his eyes up and down my figure as he spoke.
"I need a high school education too, you know." He said. "Being a werewolf may have some benefits, but they don't include special qualifications for sustainable jobs in the future."
I didn't move my stare as I replied. "I also know that becoming a werewolf doesn't come with a requirement to kill people."
He raised his eyebrows, his smirk faltering just a little. "What makes you think I'm gonna kill someone?"
"I know Derek plans on killing the kanima." I told him. "And it wouldn't surprise me if he makes his little betas get their hands dirty while he stays squeaky clean."
He stared into me, as if trying to find a reason to say I'm wrong, but he says nothing. His smirk had completely fallen, and I knew I had him.
"It doesn't have to be like this, Isaac." I said softly. "I don't know what you want, but whatever it is, you can do much better than Derek."
He let out a small chuckle. "Scott said the same thing."
"And he's right." I told him. "I get that he's your alpha, but you have a choice."
He shook his head. "No, I don't."
I gently put a hand on his shoulder, and he seemed taken back by the gesture. I gave him a small smile.
"Then let us give you one." I whispered.
[3rd Person POV]
Scott day diagonally behind Isaac, watching and listening in on their conversation. He agreed with what [y/n] said, but he knew that her words wouldn't get through to Isaac. At least, not now.
Stiles shuffled into the classroom and sat behind Scott, drawing his eyes away from the pair.
"Dude, I just talked to my dad who just talked to Jackson and I have some horrible, terrible, very, very bad news." He rambled.
Scott gestured towards Isaac. "I think I already know."
Stiles looked over at Isaac, and he noticed him conversing with his girlfriend. The sight made him clench his jaw and tighten his hand in a fist.

[Y/N POV]I walked out of first period with Stiles, holding his hand, while Scott walked beside me.
"I only found one thing online for a kanima." Stiles said. "It's a werejaguar from South America that goes after murderers."
Scott looked at him with raised eyebrows. "That thing's not a Jaguar."
