Hey watch where you're going, freak," Miranda yelled rudely as she bumped into Kate, or more accurately walked directly into her.
"Hey, you walked into me," Kate replied with a bite. Kate was one of the few people who was willing to and able to stand up to Miranda and her girls. With pitch black hair, nails, and clothing, one of the schools few goths obviously didn't care much about Miranda's requirements for popularity or the hierarchy she had set up at school, and had, on more than one occasion, actually spit out Miranda and her 'flunkies', much to their surprise and disgust. But this time was different. They had gone out of their way to provoke her, walking directly into her in an almost empty hallway.
"It's not my fault you were in my way," Miranda replied with cattiness in her voice as she walked away, a smile on her face.
"Actually, it is," Kate smirked as she too continued walking, "But don't worry, you'll pay for it soon enough. You pissed off a witch one too many times..."

As the bell rang, everyone rushed out of their classrooms, most going to their next class, but a few going off to get changed for gym in the locker room...including Miranda and her close friends. None of them ever actually participated in the physical activities of gym class, they were far too worried about getting sweaty, or worse, breaking a nail. But they still had to go and wear the ugly gym clothes for a half hour if they didn't want to fail the class. So there they were, once again, forced to stand outside while people ran around chasing balls and laughing and shoving each other. Unfortunately, today was an exceptionally warm day, and even when they were just standing around wearing shorts and t-shirts, beads of sweat were starting to form on their foreheads by the end of class.
"Ugh, this sucks," Miranda said as they headed back into the locker room, "I feel disgusting. Sally, give me some of your perfume."
Sally, one of Miranda's 'friends' was about to spray herself with her favorite scent to get rid of the smell of grass and sweat. Knowing that no wasn't an acceptable answer, and admitting to herself that Miranda wasn't smelling her best anyway, Sally handed over the bottle, which Miranda immediately took and sprayed on herself.
"Ah, that's better," she said to herself as she stuck the perfume bottle in her bag, "I've always liked that scent. You don't mind if I borrow it, right?"
"No, I guess my parents can just get me another one for my birthday...in a few months," Sally replied, a bit disappointed, as that had been her favorite perfume too.
"You know Miranda, I hate to say it, and I know you'll hate me for it," Susan said as she began to sniff the air, "But I think that perfume actually made you smell worse...are you maybe allergic to it or something?"
"WTF, Susan, how rude can you be," Miranda shouted, "I smell great, in fact, I think I smell better than ever. How dare you accuse me of stinking! Miranda Claudete Fisher does not, has not, and will not ever stink like some...some..."
"Skunk," Sally shouted.
"Exactly," Miranda replied.
"No, that's what it smells like," Sally retorted, "It doesn't smell like gym, or perfume, or anything else...it just smells like a...skunk...and it's definitely coming from right where you're standing Miranda...I hate to be a bitch, but..."
"Okay, that's it," Miranda shouted at her two followers, "You two are gone! We're not besties anymore, and I wouldn't be surprised if you start getting harassed by me and my new friends soon enough, because trust me, there's a line of people who want into this circle and you two just threw away that privilege! Are you even listening to me?! We're done! You should be crying somewhere, not just staring at me like I'm some painting. Why are you just standing there?!"
"You...your hair," Sally said, a bit of shock in her voice, though none of it from her leader's outburst.
"You're...turning brunette," Susan added in.
"What are you talking about, I'm golden blonde," Miranda replied as if the two girls were the stupidest in the world. But as she pulled some hair in front of her face, her eyes opened wide in shock as she immediately ran for a sink with a mirror, quickly followed by her pair of followers. Reaching the mirror, she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Her hair, which once resembled a golden waterfall, was turning to light brown from the roots down. But it was only beginning. With every second, the cascade of brown flowing from her scalp turned a darker and darker shade. Soon, her hair was so dark that it appeared as ink-black as that goth girl's...Kate. However, strangely, as Miranda looked with horror at her new hair color, running it through her fingers and pulling at it, she noticed that she seemed to have two highlighted strips going from her bangs all the way down her back. They almost looked like as the rest of her hair had darkened, they had lightened, until they reached their present, pure white state, greatly contrasting with their black counterparts and giving her hair a look as if it were on...
"A...skunk," Miranda could believe what she was seeing or saying, but she saw no other way to describe this new hair style other than resembling the hair on the smelly creature, "What just happened? Why does my hair, my beautiful flowing hair, look like it belongs on some smelly mangy animal?!"
Sally and Susan were speechless. They just stared on and watched in horror as Miranda's back seemed to start growing a think layer of hair all over, almost looking like a fur coat, covering her back in the same two-stripe pattern as her hair.
"My back feels really itchy all the sudden," Miranda said as she went to scratch it and noticed two things; she could feel hair as she scratched, though soft hair, not unlike petting a dog or cat...also, when she scratched, she immediately cut herself with her nails. She looked at her hand with the shock and fear growing greater and greater in her eyes as she saw that her nails, freshly manicured and painted yesterday, were now sharp and pointed, not to mention a dark gray color as opposed to her usual deep-sea blue. They almost looked like...claws...
Miranda stared, dumbfounded at her hands until an odd feeling in her lower back reminded her of the fur that had coated it somehow in a matter of minutes. She spun around to look at her back in the mirror, but once she did, she wished she hadn't. Not only was her back now covered in black fur with the same two white stripes as in her hair, she also noticed a bushy appendage growing just above the top of her underwear, seeming coming out from her tailbone, and twitching occasionally as it quickly grew to a foot--two feet--three! In a matter of seconds, Miranda could have no doubt what was happening to her, although she still couldn't believe it...for as it stopped growing, she now possessed a four-foot long, fluffy, black and white skunk's tail, coming right out from her spine.
It was at this point that Sally and Susan couldn't take it any more. They just watched their leader start turning into some kind of skunk monster, and she was continuing to change still. Fear overcame both of them as they both simply screamed in unison, their first sounds in a while, and ran for the exit, leaving Miranda on her own.
"Wait," she shouted, "You can't just leave me! I made you! Without me you'd still be wearing clashing colors and sitting by yourself at lunch! I--AGH!"
Miranda's rant was broken up as she caught sight of her face in the mirror, surprising her and scaring her, causing her to instinctively shoot an awful odor out from under her tail. Though she didn't even notice the smell or that she produced it, as she was much more concerned about her face. Her beautiful face seemed to have been warped and stretched; her nose and upper lip looked to have been fused somehow, and then pulled out from her face a few inches, forming it into a short, triangular-shaped muzzle. Her nose had turned into a black triangle at the tip of this new facial feature, and she could feel that it was slightly damp, as if she were a dog or someone during allergy season. Her beautiful blue eyes had turned a boring shade of dark brown, almost black, and had moved further apart on her face. She actually hadn't noticed it before as she was looking at her back and tail, but her vision seemed to have gotten duller, less colorful.
As she continued to stare at her reflection, her fear and confusion turned to sorrow. The fur that covered her back began to move to her front, causing her breasts to become itchy under her bra. As she saw the black fur bushing out over her arms and legs, hands and feet, she realized that she was becoming nothing more than a freak. Her chest and stomach coated with white fur, as it ran up her neck and reached her face. As she stared at herself in the mirror, she could do nothing but watch helplessly as her face was covered in black fur, aside from the two white stripes, which worked their way down her forehead and muzzle until they met at her small black nose.
Lastly, she heard several loud pops as her ears pointed out into small triangles and shifted up to the top of her head, just sticking out of her hair, but still covered in black fur like the rest of her.
And like that, there stood a giant, freakish looking skunk-girl hybrid. She still stood on two feet, although they were shaped more like hind paws now, and she still was her height of 5'6", plus an extra inch now if you include her new ears. And she still had her two perky breasts, although they were now covered in fluffy white fur. Other than that, all of her features were the same as if she were any skunk. And as she examined her new form, she realized that she would never be popular again...in fact, no one would ever want to be anywhere near her ever again. And all she could ask her self as tears began to mat the fur under her eyes was..."Why?"
********************
20 minutes earlier....
"This'll show that pretentious bitch and her friends not to mess with me," Kate sneered to herself as she switched the bottle of perfume in one of Miranda's friends' bag with a potion she made up during the first half of her lunch, "I'd like to see any of their statuses recover from being turned into freaks that no one will want to be around. Now I just have to wait to see my handiwork..."
And so she waited. She stood outside the door as everyone exited the locker room after gym, until all that was left was Miranda and her two friends. She listened as she heard voices getting louder, with Miranda yelling. She smiled as she heard screaming, but was caught off-guard when Miranda's friends ran out, holding their noses and screaming. She had thought all of them would have used the perfume...but no matter, her main goal was the ringleader, and given their expressions, she had gotten what she deserved. Now it was time to see for herself.
As she stepped into the locker room, she was immediately hit with the rancid smell of skunk.
"Someone must have gotten quite scared when she saw what was happening," Kate thought to herself as she walked through the room, seeing Miranda's bag, and hearing sobbing. As she turned the corner towards the sinks and shower stalls, she saw what she was looking for...standing at one of the sinks with her face in both her claws and crying, was a human-sized skunk.
"So Miranda," Kate began, a hint of gloating in her voice, "How does it feel to know that you won't ever be popular again? You'll never even get to be around people again. No one will ever want to be near you now that you're a stinky, freaky, skunk girl. You'll be alone for the rest of your life!"
It was at this moment that Miranda got the answer to her question. As she stopped crying into her paws, she looked up at Kate, and her sorrow and confusion turned to something else....anger. This had been Kate's revenge against her, but she could use it to get revenge on Kate too.
As Kate laughed, she didn't notice that Miranda had stopped crying. She didn't notice that Miranda had turned around...or that she was lifting up her tail. She didn't notice anything until it was too late. She was interrupted from her laughter as a horrible smell shot out from Miranda right into Kate's face, soon covering her in the odor.
Kate smelled the horrible smell for only a moment filled with pure shock...but then the scent changed...it started to smell sweet...and a horrified look came across her face when she realized that a white stripe was appearing in the middle of her black hair, and her back was starting to itch...
