chapter 5: meeting new people

Ellie’s POV

After class Nick and Annie started to bombard me with stupid questions. “I thought you died” Annie said in a angry tone. “Yeah where the fuck were you? Were you with Alex?” Nick asked. I don't really want to tell them that Alex took me in a janitor's closet, and started to make out with me so… i came up with a lie.

“No Nick, and Annie i obviously didn't die. I went to the bathroom and my stomach started to hurt so i stayed in there for a little bit longer to make sure i was okay, i am perfectly fine now” i lied. I can't believe i am lying to my best friends, but if Nick found out he would probably kill Alex. Then most likely tell James, and who knows what James would do. He 100% would do something really bad. And if i told Annie she would ask me for the details, and i am not comfortable with that, and she wouldn't leave me alone. So lying is my best option.

I am also going to avoid Alex at all causes today, because i don't want that to happen again, or do i. I really don't know, i need time to think. I also think he wants there to be an ‘us’ because he wanted to ‘talk’ about that. Or was he just playing me to try and get me into bed? Well that is NOT going to happen.

“Okay if you say so…” Annie said. “Guys i am not lying, and can we just please drop it and get to class?” i asked hoping they would drop it. “Sure” Nick and Annie said. “Let's go Annie” i commanded Annie. Annie and i have the same class next, and Nick had another class. He is a traitor… jk. This class is going to be the worse because after this class is before lunch, and i am really hungry.

After class Annie and i met up with Nick and went to lunch. We were walking up to a empty table when someone shouted my name.

“Ellie! Come over here!” i turned around to see who called my name, and it was James. I walked over to his table with Annie and Nick behind me. “Yeah?” i questioned James. “Sit with us” James commanded. “ Okay… is it cool is Annie and Nick sit here too?” i ask James. “Sure the more the merrier”.

We all sat down at the table, and i look over at my friends. Nick is talking to James’s friend Albert Shay. He is James’s best friend, he is also protective over me because he has known James and i forever. And, well, Annie is gawking a James. She has a thing for him...but to scared to talk to him and stuff like that.

“Hey James, mind if we sit here?” a guy asked my brother. James nodded and pointed to the seats. The guy who asked to sit here sat next to Nick. i think his name is Cole, and he is in my grade. I am sitting next to James, Annie is sitting next to me, and Nick is sitting on the other side of James next to Albert.

The other guys come into view who were behind Cole. There were 3 more guys. I don't know who the other 2 are, but the last one i recognized and i realized it was Alex. Really is he following me or something?

The two random guys who i don't know that names of sat next to Cole, and Alex sat next to the a blond headed guy, and Annie. He probably wanted to sit next to me… thank god Annie is there.

“So Cole what brings you here?” James questions Cole. “i don't know just wanted to chat” Cole replied to James. Cole then looked at me then to his friends. “Oh and this is Cameron, Bryce, and Alex” Cole pointed to his friends. Okay so the brown headed guy is Cameron, and the dirty blond headed guy is Bryce. Okay then, let's remember that.

I looked up and god they are all HOT. How have i not noticed Cameron and Bryce? I question my eyesight.

“Oh okay… and this is Albert my friend. This is Ellie my sister, and her two friends… Annie, and Nick” James said, and pointed to us each time he said a name.

“So Alex how have you been?” James asks Alex. “good man, you?” Alex questions my brother. Wait what? Alex is James’s friends. James is Alex’s friends. What?? “Pretty good, bro” James answered Alex’s question. I am so confused as to why they are acting like old friends.

“Wait? How do you guys know each other?” i questioned James and Alex. “Alex is in my first period” James clarified for me. Wait James does photography first. Alex does photography too? “Alex you do photography?” i questioned Alex. Alex looked up at me and smirked. “Yep. My mom does it too. And it is fun” Alex answered my question. I nodded and looked down at my food.

I don't really know why the guys are over here but they aren't bothering me, so i don't really mind. I snapped out of my thoughts when someone poked my arm. I looked up and saw Annie and she nodded her head toward Alex. i looked up at him and he pointed to his phone telling me to look at mine. I nodded and looked at my phone. I had a new message, and i opened it.

Unknown number: Hey it’s Alex

To Alex: Well no duh.

Alex chuckled softly and started texting me back

From Alex: We need to talk

To Alex: I really rather not

From Alex: Why not?

To Alex: How did you get my number?

I asked Alex, not answering his question because i didn't feel like it.

From Alex: That’s not important

I decided to not reply to him because i didn’t have anything to say.

The lunch bell rang indicating that lunch was over.

Off to spanish… uh i am horrible at spanish. I start walking to spanish then i was interrupted again. I was half expecting it to be Alex but it wasn't it was Daniel Hodge. Daniel Hodge... my middle school crush. He never noticed me and i stopped liking him because i knew it wasn't going to get me anywhere. I wonder what he wants.

“Uhh… hey” Daniel said a bit awkwardly. He stood there and scratched the back of his neck. In movies this is what guys do when they are nervous or feeling awkward. Which one is it?

“Hey” is all i said. “I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime?” Daniel asked me. I mean if this was a few years ago i would be over the moon exided, but i don't really like him like that anymore. But we could hang out as friends. I was about to say sure, but then somebody interrupted. “She’s not seeing anybody right now” i looked behind me and saw James looking a bit pissed off. “Oh, okay” Daniel said with fear laced through his voice. Really James. Daniel scurried off probably frightened for his life.

I turned around to look at my smirking brother. “Really James?” I shouted at him. He chuckled and replied “ Okay calm down Ellie Buggy. No guys need to be talking to you. Only Nick” “Okay i get that you are trying to be protective over me, but you really didn't need to scare him so much. He probably peed his pants.” i said to james which caused him to laugh. “Oh well, see you later Ellie” James said and messed up my hair, and walked away. I glared at his back even though he couldn't see me.
I walked into my class, and sat down at a empty seat in the back. Both Annie and Nick didn't have this class so i guess i will be lonely.

The door bursted open and Alex came in with Cole. Alex looked around the room for a minute, then he spotted me and smirked and walked closer to me. Alex sat in the seat RIGHT NEXT to me. Cole followed him and sat behind him. I looked over at them, and saw that Alex and Cole were both smirking at me.

Oh great.
