Knock knock

Knock knock

There's a distant knocking on the door, which stirs me in my sleep. I ignore the noise and try to go back to sleep. But then I hear footsteps, followed by the door opening.

"Morning Mr. Sharma. I hope I didn't disturb you. But this is urgent."

"Morning Mr. Fernandez. No, no, you didn't. In fact I've been waiting for you."

"Uhh...Who's that?"

"That's Harry Styles, a friend of ours."

My eyes open as soon as I hear my name. I rub my eyes, to have a clear look on who it is. For a moment I forget where I am. It just takes a second for me to realise that I'm at the hospital, in Aditi's ward, where both Aditya and I spent the night. I sit up straight on the chair, in which I slept with my head on Aditi's bed, just next to her foot. I look towards the door, squinting slightly, as I try to adjust to the bright hospital lights. Aditya is standing next to a man dressed in a suit. I stand up and slowly walk over to them, by the door.

"Harry meet Mr. Fernandez, he's the inspector in charge of Aditi's case."

I nod my head and put my hand forward to shake his rough hand.

Mr. Fernandez looks in his mid forties, a few grey hairs around his head. His warm dark skin, wrinkled, his eyes looking tired and exhausted, just as mine would probably be looking right now.

"We need to talk, privately." Mr. Fernandez says, as he looks from Aditya to me.

"Oh no, it's okay, I trust Harry. We can talk here. " Aditya says and I smile at him.

Aditya motions the inspector to the sofa on which Aditya had slept. Mr. Fernandez sits down and Aditya sits down next to him. They look at me as I walk to get me a chair and bring it in front of the small sofa, so that I'm facing them.

"We have bad news." Says the inspector with a grim look on his face.

Aditya and I look back and forth, this can't be good.

"There's an hour of security footage missing from all the camera's of the Arena." Mr. Fernandez blurts out.

"WHAT?!" Aditya and I say in unison. Aditya stands up and starts pacing back and forth.

"How could this be possible? Did you ask the security guards in charge? Who's the head of security? Let me go and talk to him!" Aditya says crossly as he looks at the inspector.

"Child, you think we haven't done that? We've already questioned the Security manager. He says he will help us. He's given us the schedule of those who were supposed to be on duty yesterday. We've questioned eighteen of the twenty guards present. One of the two guards called in sick and the other one's missing."

The inspector starts looking for something in his pockets.

"What do you mean missing?" I ask.

The inspector pulls out a few papers from his suit's inside pocket and lays it down on the coffee table.

"Missing as in, nowhere to be found. When we questioned the other guards they said he was definitely on duty and was in fact in the security room. The security room is where they monitor the cameras. Like a surveillance room."

"So this guy could be it. He's deleted the footage." Aditya stops and says, looking directly at the inspector with eagerness.

"Son, he could be a suspect alright. But without a clue, it means nothing."
