Everyone was born with an animal trait. Cats and dogs were the most common but other animals were included. The most rare trait to have is a bird.
MJ was one of the unlucky souls to get wings. Her mother had a puma trait, black ears and a long black tail as well as sharp hearing and stealth. Her father had a lion trait, golden brown ears and a long tail with fur on the end as well as a dominant voice and sharp claws.
Usually the child would get one of the parents traits, leaving MJ to be the outcast in the family of cats. She kept her greeting white snow owl wings hidden from everyone by wearing an oversized hoodie. Her other trait was very sharp eyesight and night vision.
"Hello? Earth to Myra?" MJ's best friend Lilly asked. The wolf girl was waving her hand in front of the owl girls face. "You ok? You're unusually quiet."
"Yeah, I'm fine.." she lied. MJ gave a small smile and was tackled by the wolf.
"Don't make me tickle you!" lilly threatened. MJ laughed and sat up, making the smaller girl fall into her lap.
"As if you could make me laugh." she challenged. Lilly glared playfully, her wolf ears moved and her tail wagged.
"You're on!" lilly began to tickle MJ, who wiggled out of her grip but lost her hoodie in the process. Lilly gasped when she saw M's wings.
MJ realized her mistake and struggled to get her hoodie back from the wolf pup. "Lilly! Give it back before someone sees my wings!"
"Why didn't you tell me! I knew you had really good eyesight but I never would've thought you were a bird!" lilly refused to give MJ her hoodie back.
"Please lilly!" MJ begged. Lilly shook her head and put the hoodie on. It looked like a dress on her. MJ blushed a little and sighed.
"Take me on a flight!" Lilly demanded. "it's dark out. No one will see!"
MJ sighed and reluctantly agreed. She flapped her wings to test out her flying ability before letting lilly on her back.
"hold on tight... " MJ warned. Lilly did as she was told and MJ rose high into the night sky. "Tell anyone about my wings and I'll tear you apart limb by limb. Got it?" she felt lilly nod.
They flew for a while, landing on a hill top near a cherry tree. MJ wrapped her wings around the wolfy and smiled.
A soft gust of wind blew her hair and MJ heard a familiar voice in the wind whisper in her ear....
