117// My R (one shot)

Just as I was about to take my shoes off,
on the roof top there I see
A girl with braided hair here before me

MJ saw a girl sitting on the opposite side of the rail. Tears staining her cheeks. Her hair was in two braided pigtails, just like when she, herself,  had long hair.

Despite myself I go and scream

"hey, don't do it please!" MJ told the girl. The girl looked at MJ, dull clouded eyes looked into another pair of dull clouded eyes.

Whoa, wait a minute, what did I just say?
I couldn't care less either way
To be honest I was somewhat pissed!
This was an opportunity missed!

MJ couldn't believe herself. She usually didn't care what others did with themselves unless they were her friends (or important to her). After all, a strangers life doesn't involve her.

The girl with braided hair told me her woes

"you probably heard it all before. I really thought he might be the one.. But then he told me he was done." The girl spoke.

For God's sakes please! Are you serious?
I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me!

"Are you upset cause you can't have what you wanted? You're lucky that you've never been robbed of anything!" MJ replied, her tone soft yet firm. Tears rolled down her own cheeks as she had memories playing in her head.

"I'm feeling better, than you for listening" The girl smiled sadly.

The girl with braided hair then disappeared.

MJ watched as the girl jumped off the edge with a smile. She turned into a butterfly and flew away.

"Alright, today's the day!" or so I thought
Just as I took both of my shoes off
There was but a girl short as can be
Despite myself I go and scream!

MJ saw another girl on the rooftop. She looked like the girl from the day before, but her hair was cut to shoulder length and there weren't braids in her hair.

The petite girl told me her woes.

"You probably heard it all before. Everyone ignores me, everyone steals. I don't fit in with anyone here.." The girl didn't show any sign of pain, but the tears rolling down her cheeks were enough to signify sadness.

For God's sakes please! Are you serious?
I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me!

"cause even so, you're still loved by everyone at home. There's always dinner waiting on the table ya know!" MJ cried out. She was trying to be reasonable but still gentle at the same time. Tears filled her eyes as she thought about the four siblings that actually love her while the other two are assholes.

"I'm hungry" Said the girl. She let more tears fall but still didn't show much emotion.

Said the girl as she shed a tear
The girl short as can be then disappeared.

MJ watched as the girl jumped off the edge with a smile. She, too, turned into a butterfly and flew away.

And like that, there was someone everyday
I listened to their tale
I made them turn away

MJ watched as each girl she saved turned into a butterfly.

And yet there was no one who
Would do this for me
No way that I could let out all this pain

The brunette spent countless nights trying to block out the fighting, the pain, and the feeling of being a burden.

For the very first time there I see
A girl with the same pains as me
Having done this time and time again
She wore a yellow cardigan

MJ saw a girl with a blue hoodie looking over the rail. She showed no emotion, and the tears in her eyes never spilled. Her pigtails were a bit longer than the last girl she saw, and her eyes were a bit duller.

"I just wanna stop the scars that grow everytime that I go home. That's why I came up here instead." The girl spoke, using the same tone MJ had used with the other girls.

That's what the girl in the cardigan said.

MJ looked at her with understanding, subconsciously rubbing her wrist.

Whoa, wait a minute what did I just say?
I couldn't care less either way
But in the moment I just screamed
Something that I could believe

"hey, don't do it please!" MJ spoke up, finally finding her voice. The girl just looked at her emotionless.

Oh what to do?!
I can't stop this girl
Oh this is new
For once I think I've bitten off
More than I can chew

"But even so, please just go away so I can't see. Your pitiful expression is just too much for me!" MJ out her hood up so she didn't have to look at the girl's expression.

"I guess today's just not my day." The girl replied, a bit hurt by MJ's actions.

She looked away from me and then she disappeared.

MJ watched as the girl walked towards the door and left. She didn't turn into a butterfly like the rest of them.

There's no one here today so I guess it's time
It's just me, myself, and I
There's no one to get in my way here
No one to get in my way here

MJ walked towards the railing. No one was there to stop her this time. She can finally be free.

Taking off my yellow cardigan
Watching my braids all come undone

MJ took her blue hoodie off and freed her hair from her pigtails. The wind blew her loose hair and stung the the cuts on her wrist.

This petite girl short as can be
Is gonna jump now and be free

MJ let herself fall but was caught by arms. They pulled her back on the roof and crushed her into a hug.

She opened her eyes and saw that her friends saved her. They each had tears streaming down their cheeks as they apologized for no reason.
