Zeus is the Lost Prince of the Fukushima clan. His parents, Clara Fukushima and Kin Fukushima had sent him away to somewhere he would be safe from the Akatsuki after they attacked their clan for their abilities.

The Fukushima tribe had originated on a mysterious island far away from the mainland. This island was rich in chakra, which had seeped into the many creatures that dwelled there. After many enough years of eating theses creatures, the clansmen started to develop the ability to turn into creatures themselves. Certain people were able to turn into creatures that had their own powers, then even more, were able to form pacts with one of the many 'Protector creatures' who each had their own abilities, plus the ability to turn human.
