Peter remembered the events of earlier that day as he stood outside of his and Y/N's shared room.
"Please," Y/N had signed. "Listen to me! I'm your child!" The device that they wore on the side of their head scanned their signs and vocalized, but Peter Quill tried his best to just watch the signs. Their parents looked on in horror. This could not be their child, waving their hands all over the place. Deaf.
"You are no child of ours, alien." Y/N's mother said, referring to the ship that the Guardians had arrived in. So, after a few more minutes of trying and failing to convince their parents that they were actually their parents, Y/N turned on their heel and walked back to the ship head held high. And after a few stern and not-so-nice words from Peter to their parents, he did the same.
Now, he stood outside their door. He pushed a button and let the panel slide away. he saw that Y/N had thrown their translator across the room. They laid on the bed, their back to Peter. He slowly approached and rested his hand on their shoulder. They looked up at him with red eyes and Peter didn't even need a translator to tell him the meaning of the simple signs.
"Will you just hold me?"
So he did.
