Edward Elric x reader

A/N: This is an AU of sorts because the reader is going to be from America, just pretend it exists lol. This is also after the end of brotherhood so SPOILER ALERT 🚨 Enjoy~

(Y/n) P.O.V~

It's been a few years since the end of the battle with father. During the battle my boyfriend, Edward Elric, gave up his alchemy to get his brothers body back. He's done really well without his alchemy but I know he misses it. That's why I have a surprise for him.

You see, I'm from America, a country across the world from Amestris. I moved here when I was 15 and that's when I met Ed and Al. I helped them on their journey to get their bodies back and grown close to them. Ed used to like Winry but she said she saw him as a brother.

I comforted him and one thing led to another and now he's my boyfriend. Being from America we have many holidays Amestris does not. One of them being Independence Day. I went back to my home town recently for said holiday and I brought home some fireworks.

I thought Edward might like them because it's close to him doing alchemy! Anyways, I just have to wait until night and then I'll give him his surprise. I wonder around our shared home to see if I can find him. I spot him in the kitchen eating some apple pie Winry gave to us recently.

"Hey Ed, would you like to go for a late night walk later?" I ask him, from the doorway. He turns to me, and gives me a confused look. "You want to walk at night (y/n)?" He questions me, offering out a slice of pie. I take the pie and enjoy some as well. "Yep, I have a surprise for you!" I explain with excitement. "Well alright, late night walk it is." He agrees and we chat idly until the sun sets.

**Night time**

The sun was finally down and I was nearly jumping with joy. I grab the box of fireworks and beckon Ed. "What's in the box?" He asks me curiously. "You'll just have to wait and see." I giggle at the annoyed look he gave. He never was one for patience. I walk out the door and Ed follows behind me.

We walk along the streets of Resembool to the area I deemed fit for fireworks. It was an open field so we don't risk setting anything on fire. We stop walking and I set the box on the ground. "Can I see what's in the box now (y/n)?" Edward asks me impatiently.

I sigh with a sarcastic eye roll and begin to take the tape of the cardboard. "I'm going, don't get your panties in a wad." That earned me another glare. I got the box open and he peered over my shoulder. "What is that?" He asked, no clue what those strange objects were.

"These, my darling Edward, are called fireworks." He just looked at me with a puzzled expression. "As you know, I went back to America recently so I picked up some souvenirs. Fireworks are basically little alchemy bombs. I know you lost your alchemy so I thought maybe this will give you a chance to feel it again." I explained the best I could.

He just continued to look at me with shock. I wait for him to say something and eventually a smile stretches his features. "Have I ever told you that you're amazing. You thought of me and gave me the gift of alchemy, even just a little. Thank you (y/n)." He grabs my arm and pulls me into a hug.

Usually Ed is very brash and doesn't say what he means but I love him for it. Hearing him say something so outright is a nice surprise for me as well. Equivalent exchange I guess. Once an alchemist always an alchemist.

"Of course Edward. I love you very much, I'd do anything for you." I say as I wrap my arms around him as well. We stand in an embrace for a while longer before we pull away. "We should set off some fireworks now, that sound good?" He nods in response and I get everything out. We spend the night setting off fireworks and talking.

The smile on Ed's face that night was all the exchange I could ever need. I love him more than life itself so if a few fireworks make him happy I would travel every day to get them, I'd make them if I have to, and I know he would do the same for me. My darling Edward.
