The next morning when I'm getting ready for the day, I brush my teeth while some music plays on my stereo and I feel a little ashamed of myself for having stolen one of Cameron's CDs. Not for stealing it from her room, she'll get over it. The fact that I chose to listen to one of her CDs versus one of my own. It doesn't exactly happen all the time but I'll admit to only myself that I actually enjoy some of the stuff she listens to, though I'd never tell her that as long as I'm alive. "You, me, good as can be. Wanna be more than your company. So bet your money on me."
Today on my agenda I have quite a few things planned. One of them is to reorganize my bookshelf for the third time this month but I probably won't end up getting around to it. I told Cameron I'd help her decide on a hairstyle to do for prom and that more than likely includes looking at magazines of celebrities and choosing what I like better. That does not sound as fun as the shelf but I have to choose my battles. The other thing I have to get done today is help Jace with his dancing a little more until we both feel he's ready for the big night. We're going to meet up at school again like last time and afterwards it'll be me and Cameron talking prom. I'm not exactly looking forward to the latter since I still haven't picked out a dress to wear to prom and she's been giving me heat about it. For once, I actually can't wait to hang out with Jace. What a strange world indeed. Given, it's under the pretense of me not wanting to talk to Cameron but it's still strange nonetheless.
I finally finish brushing my teeth and braid my hair into a loose side braid and throw on a light blue sweater over my shirt and head downstairs for breakfast. My parents had to work this weekend and were off on a business trip for the next few days. They were recruited to teach a few business seminars at a college and them being the nerds they are, they were very excited about it. Mom was highly against missing prom and her taking pictures of us and all that jazz. We were able to convince my mom that she had plenty of pictures of us already and said that we'd take pictures for her so she wouldn't miss out on anything. Even though we loved our parents dearly, we were glad they were out of the house. If they weren't at work, they were at home annoying us and even though they did it out of love, it was still, well, annoying.
Dad was just bummed that he wouldn't be able to get some one on one time with our dates but Cameron was more than happy about that. I was too, considering I had no date so I didn't have anything at all to worry about. I told Cameron that I would just tag along with her and Jace and after they announced who was prom queen, I was jetting out of there. No need to waste a perfectly good night with people that I never wanted to see ever again after I graduated. That would just be a waste of good reading time.
Once I got downstairs, I could hear some banging and frustrated sounds coming from the kitchen. I walked in to find Cameron standing at the island in front of our electric mixer, inspecting it. Which shocked me way more than it should have to see her in front of a kitchen appliance other than the fridge with already prepared food inside. We didn't exactly expect her to go to Le Cordon Bleu if you get what I'm saying.
