"Cameron, if you don't open this door I'm smashing your iPod into a million pieces!" I shout outside the bathroom door. Cameron has been in there for about, let's see, two hours showering, dressing, doing her makeup and who knows what else when she easily could have done that last one in her room at her vanity. I have my own bathroom in my room but the knob somehow locked itself and now dad is currently busy trying to get the knob screwed off. I had to opt for the hall bathroom for a quick shower but so far it was looking more and more like I'd be using the hose today. According to the clock in the hallway, I only had half an hour to get ready and Cameron was not helping matters.
I bang my fist against the door again and can hear her opening and closing her makeup pallets. She sounds like she's taking her sweet time, whether it's simply to annoy me or not, I'm not sure. Either way, It's making me impatient and a little anxious. With the house being more than enough room for us, six bedrooms, one which was used as an office, another used for a guest bedroom and a third as a small library, the basement being home to the washer and dryer and used for storage, you'd think we'd somehow find a way to make two bathrooms work for us but apparently not. Could a third bathroom in Cameron's room be that hard to install? My mother always said that me and Cameron could switch rooms but considering the balcony was my only means of escape from her pounding music, I refused each time she suggested it.
"Gosh, you're impatient," says Cameron, finally opening the door and shooting me an annoyed look.
"I wouldn't be kicking down the door if you would do your makeup in your room," I shoot back.
"Can't. The vanity is covered in clothes," she replies like it's a good enough reason for her making me late.
"Well, then put them up and you won't have to worry about it," I huff.
"That is a brilliant idea my equally brilliant sister. But I don't have time this morning. Brandon's picking me up for breakfast." She scoots past me and walks down the hall towards her bedroom, a slight skip in her step. What she saw in that boy, I would never know and didn't want to try finding out. Also, nevermind that she also has to be at school the same time I have to but alright. I walk into the bathroom and close the door behind me. I walk over to the shower and turn on the water, running my hand through the stream to test the temperature. When the water keeps coming out freezing cold I try turning the knob further towards the H but still the water wasn't warming up. After a few minutes, I finally knew why. "Really, Cameron?" I say to myself, annoyed that she used up all the hot water.
Our pipes were a bit old considering this house was built back in the early 90's so hot water in the showers was first come first serve. Even though today was a bad start already, I was not about to make it worse by jumping into a freezing cold stream of water so instead, I grab the shampoo and conditioner and turn the faucet in the sink on. I bend over and wash my hair in a somewhat uncomfortable position with the edge of the sink digging into my chest. I'm half afraid that my hair will get stuck in the drain but there's no time to think about that. I was going to be late for school if I didn't hurry up. I was not about to let Cameron not only ruin my peaceful morning but let me step out of the house with oily hair. If anything, this was the last of the stressful morning. After drying my hair, I go back into my room and change in the closet while my dad worked on the bathroom knob.
