"Diana isn't here!" the first thing I said when I had opened the front door. Yes, and that was true. Anne stood there, outside the door, and I sensed that it was her new daughter, she wanted to talk to, and certainly not her daughter's boyfriend. Little did I know how much she wanted to see me disappear from Harrys life.
"I know and it's not Diana, I want to talk to. It's you."
I frowned. I didn't have any thought about that, to talk to her, not until she accepted me as a part of her daughter's life.
"About what?"
Anne blushed a little and looked down at the ground. I sensed that it had taken her many sleepless nights before she had come here.
"I want to apologize." She looked at me again. "Yes, I was jealous over that Diana was so dependent on you and not me. I know I shouldn't have tried to shut you out, but that was how I felt. I want my daughter in my life and I love her, but after I had driven her home, she told me about how much she hated me, because I didn't accept you and she said some words as I don't want to talk with you about."
I was hesitant. I didn't feel like to that easy forgive her.
"And what do you think I feel?" I asked quickly and hoarsely. "I love Diana, I love Harry and I love the person he has become. I love the whole concept, and you can't change that."
She nodded, and she turned up her palms to tell me that she didn't want to start an argument.
"I know, but for me it's an adjustment. My Harry was always alone and he needed me. My Diana seems to have found a place in life and that's fine, but I wasn't ready for that. I thought it would be she and I against the world, not her and you."
Okay, I guess I understood her, but at the same time, it was easy to say one thing and then go back to old habits.
"On one condition." I said therefore. "When you're here, you should show us both respect and you treat us both the same way you want to be treated."
She nodded a little bit and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
"I promise to do better, but give me time."
I nodded.
"Sure, I'll give you time, but if you so much s trying to destroy our relationship, I will shut you out completely from Diana's life. My plan is to be there for her our hole life."
Anne had time to go before Harry came home. (I still had the habit to think about Harry as Harry and not as Diana... sorry for that :D ). He came into the kitchen and he had a big smile on his face. I kept on with the food and I didn't understand why he smiled so silly.
"I talked with my mom." he started with. "And you know what she said?"
I gave him a long look.
"Maybe she told you that you have the world's angriest boyfriend?"
He snorted and came up to me.
"No, she said something that you plan to stay by my side until we die."
I came up with a faint smile and rolled my eyes.
"Isn't that our common plan?"
He nodded.
"Yes, but it feels so great when you telling that to other people, that we're together forever and nothing can come between us."
I smiled and looked up at Harry's face. I still loved his green eyes and the entire Harry was perfect, although he now was Diana.
