It was planned down to the last second. I made it home, and I washed my clothes. I did some disorder in the bedroom and muddied some glasses in the kitchen. Yes, I wanted her to see that I had been at home. I then took a shower and chose normal clothes. The weekend with Mike had been incredible. We had not left the hotel room once and I had tried everything with him. It was as if a new life opened up and actually I could now see before me how a life with a man would be. Okay, I did not love Mike, but he was sexy enough to not say no.

Diana pulled the suitcase inside the hall and I saw that she was rested. She had put up her dark hair in a bun, and she seemed to be happy.

"Welcome home!"

She saw me and immediately it appeared a smile on her lips.

"Hello, sweetheart." She dropped everything and ran over to me. She hugged me hard and I sensed that she had missed me. "It's so good to be home."

I smiled and kissed her lightly on the lips.

"And it's nice to have you home."

She smiled big and she caught up my face between her  hands.

"Oh, I'm so glad to see you." she muttered hoarsely. "Did you miss me as much as I missed you?"

I swallowed.

"Yes, of course."

She giggled and kissed me again. I felt loved by her. There was nothing wrong with that part, I realized that now.

"So you sat by the TV all weekend?"

Diana asked the question and let me go. I smiled at her.

"Yes, where else?"

She cocked her head.

"And yesterday, were you also in the sofa with your golf?"

I nodded and rolled my eyes.

"Come on darling, you know I was home."

Diana become quiet. The front door opened and Gemma appeared, behind her was Anne. I got big eyes. What the hell?

"Uh hello?"

All three stood and looked at me. Yes they had a smile on their face, but there was not a kind smiles.

"We were here all weekend." I heard Gemma say. "We never went over to me. This was Diana's attempts to give you a chance."

I didn't know what to say. I just stared at them. What were my excuse?

"I know you met someone." Diana's voice trembled. "And Niall, there's no point in continuing. We'll only hurt each other even more."

I swallowed.

"But I love you?"

She shook her head.

"No, you loved Harry. I noticed that you just get frustrated by me. You miss him and it was him you wanted, not me."

I was about to say something. Anne took a step toward me and she seemed to be ready to defend the world against me.

"Pack your clothes and leave this house to day. I'll make sure you get your other things once you find an apartment. For Diana's sake, leave it as it is."

****

I don't know what I thought or if I should feel something. It was like a nightmare. I packed my clothes, my shoes, my stuff from the toilet and I left the house. A side of me wanted to scream right out and ask for a second chance, but the truth was that I knew. I hadn't chosen Diana, I had chosen my craving as I had. I hadn't chosen her because I actually missed one other person. She was right. It was no use fighting for something that still was about to be destroyed. Maybe I should have done differently, but something told me that it hadn't helped.
