A dog barking in the distance woke me from my sleep, the sun was pouring in almost blinding me. I looked across from me to see the happily sleeping naked man I had married five years ago today. His face was aged, but only into a sexier man. He had his scruff, his faint scarred eyebrow, and his toned muscular body that, I had learned, had many...many talents. I smirked, remembering when he finally got me into bed, and how amazing it was.
I got up, shifting my own naked body firmly on top of him, waking him up with a few kisses and of course, my naked female-licous body on top of him.
He groaned, but hungrily so as he saw me, eyeing my beauty up and down, "How'd I ever get so lucky?" his morning gruff voice sounded.
"I could ask you the same thing," I stated, circling his gun-shot scare on his stomach with my finger.
He sat up, grabbing my back, pushing me closer to kiss him. He cheekily spanked my bare ass, a resounding ring in the quiet morning.
I moaned, sending him into a frenzy of lusting hormones, giving me a taste of my own medicine.
I wanted to just give in and let him have his way, but the soft crying of our baby girl was heard a few feet away.
Cody growled in disapproval but sighed and let me go attend to our daughter.
Leeanne was her name, and only 3 months old. She cooed when she saw me walk in, bubbling away in her own tone, I swept her up, kissing her face a million times making her giggle, "Mommy loves you baby girl," I whispered.
I fixed up her diaper, also feeding her so she would settle down. A long but very rewarding ritual, Cody sauntered in just as I was finishing breast-feeding.
"When can I get some action?" still moaning about earlier.
"That will have to wait!" I giggled, placing Leeanne between us. Cody looked down at her, then at me, smiling bigger than ever.
"Happy Anniversary baby," He said handing me a box.
We swapped, he took Leeanne and I took the present, curiously rolling it in my hand.I laughed as I saw the gift was indeed wrapped with newspaper, but unwrapping it made me realize that it didn't matter whatsoever.
A baby pink seashell lay in my hand. Whole. Like our childhood pieces finally made it together to become a whole shell again.
"How....when..." my voice quiet, the only sound was Leeanne babbling.
"When we went to the Bahamas after Mexico, I found it on the beach among some rocks. Just sitting there."
It couldn't be the same shell like the one in our sandbox.
I took the whole shell and went into our room, to my jewelry box, where the older two pieces lay.
I matched them side by side, confirming that they were indeed, of the same kind of shell.
How rare....how amazing....how...I looked up at my husband, words not even forming the proper thanks I had to give. I just silently thanked him, he knew how much it meant to me...and what it meant to us.
In all these years, from someone beyond hurt like I had been, to a wife and mother, I couldn't believe how much I had changed. I admired the pieces, and the shell. Both signifying the periods of my life I had been in.
But now, tossing the severed pieces aside, holding the whole one in my hand, I had finally found my missing piece with Cody Stanson.
