It had been over five days.

Five days had gone by and the town was frantically searching for Alyssa.

In my head I prayed silently that she was alright. The whole kidnapping stuff my mom had spewed really came back to bite me in the butt.

I remember seeing Alyssa the day before she went missing, she was gushing about her newest crush on a boy-band wannabe. Giggling, flipping her chestnut hair as she talked.

I hoped I would see her again, and soon.

Cody passed me in the halls, looking a little rushed and agitated, I quickly grabbed his arm and took him by my side. "Hey.... You heard about Alyssa didn't you?" I questioned, Cody replied nodding solemnly.

"I'm sorry El. I have to go now," and our brief conversation ended, Cody swiftly moving back into the crowd of students.

Was it just me? Because something seemed off.

The day was cut short, as an assembly was held for the student body. The principal approached the stand looked worn out and tired. He moved his glasses up his nose and cleared his throat, "Students, as of today we are missing 4 girls from the school. Alyssa Kingsley, Breanne Holmer, Jean Myers, and Krista Clark."

The body of students mumbled and whispered until the principal cleared his throat again.

"As of today, we are requiring all students to partner with a buddy, in the mornings and afternoons. We are hiring extra security for the perimeters and are trying out best to make this school as safe as possible."

A girl, possibly named Sarah, leaned over and whispered to me, "Only cuz our parents are paying him off to say so, this school's done for, that pervy man is coming for us all."

"Pervy-man?" I asked, she retorted, "yeah, he's works downtown in the ghetto, he likes young girls, always taking pictures of them and spying on them. Now he's picking them off the streets one by one..."

Her tone made it seem like some normal old ghost tale, but this was real life. This kidnapper was out there. And no one knew who he was.

Later that night I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling, my mind bursting with questions. I kept thinking back to what Sarah said, He worked in the ghetto. Maybe this guy was younger rather than older...

My phone buzzed, puzzled I looked down and saw an unknown number's message. Immediately I assumed it may be Alyssa trying to get help until I read the message it was from Cody, he said:

I know who has Alyssa. I'm going after him.

I quickly texted back,

I'm coming with you! But my phone buzzed shortly after with the response,

Absolutely not.

I sighed, annoyed, I called Cody and heard him pick up.

"It's not happening Ellie, I'm sorry."

"This is my best friend Cody, please, let me at least drive you there..."

I heard a pause, and a groan, and a smile spread on my face.

"Finnneeee...." And I jumped up and down, "Yes!!! Thank you Cody!"

"I'll be there in an hour," Cody remarked, and hung up the phone.

Finally, I was going to go on a mission like a real life James Bond movie.

I was ready to find my best friend, and catch the guy responsible.
