Luckily I was released from the hospital a few days after I saw Cody.

I had so much time to sit and process it all.

When someone confesses their love for you, and means it, well... You kind of have a brain malfunction.

Even though I knew how badly it hurt me when Cody kissed that other girl, even though he was involved with bad things and bad people, his childhood self and our seashell made me realize how much I still cared about him.

I stifled a groan as my mom shoved me into our SUV, my body's muscles still adjusting to moving around.

The day was a tad warmer, yet a few clouds were scattered around trying to falter the great weather.

Once I got home my little brother welcomed me with a few flowers he had picked from our indoor plants.

"Thanks buddy, these are great," as I grabbed the dirt crusted stems of the wilted flowers he offered.

It was the thought that counted.

A while after dinner, and after I had made the epic and dangerous trek up the stairs to my bedroom, I heard the doorbell ring.

My heartbeat quickened, and I could feel my hands start to clam up. I had a feeling I knew who it was.

My mother called, revealing the exact person I presumed it to be.

"Cody Stanson is here," she hollered, I could hear her happiness drip from her words.

Why did she like him so much? She didn't even know the troublemaker he really was.

I yelled back as loud as I could, "Send him up."

Moments later the brown-haired devil came waltzing into my room, plopping down right beside me.

"How're you feeling?" Cody asked, worry written all over his face.

I smirked, "Fine, but you definitely messed my head all up," I joked, earning me a puzzled look from Cody.

I then proceeded to tell him my thoughts that I accumulated since our last visit in the hospital.

"Ellie... I knew exactly who you were that day I accidentally kicked a ball at your head...err...well...purposefully," mumbling the last part.

My eyes widened, then I slapped Cody's arm playfully, "You ass!"

He smiled, and fell back on the bed, his feet still touching the ground.

"I think I wanted to reconnect with you. We hadn't talked in so long....And we were so young that I didn't think you'd remember. But before going to school my mom had told me your name, and thought we could be friends again..or more.."

His voice grew soft.

"I think I know what we are," Cody whispered, his voice so quiet I could hear my Mum's tv show downstairs.

"What's that?"

"Childhood sweethearts," he piped, and as I looked over my shoulder I smiled, I pushed myself up on my elbows, using my good arm for balance.

Cody's eyebrows went up as I swung my legs on either side of him.

My body gently resting on top of his, the heat was rising in my cheeks...and other places.

I had never done this before.

I grabbed Cody's face and smashed my lips against his, intoxicated in the smell of his cologne and the way his lips tasted.

Cody responded by grabbing my shoulders and carefully moving me closer to him until there was no space separating us.

I could feel my stomach turn as I felt our bodies move together and just beg for more.
