Chapter 9

The large doors opened. Ben and I walked down the aisle with our royalty faces on. Everyone was bowing as we walked past. Mom and Dad stood up out of their thrones waiting for us. As we passed Jay and Mal, I gave Jay a little smile and a wink then continued my way down.

Fairy Godmother gave Mom a hug and curtsied Dad. Dad leaned down so that she could take the crown off his head. Ben and I kneeled before Fairy Godmother as she put Dad's crown onto Ben.

Since there was really no traditional crown for me, one was specially made. It was gold with lines of small diamonds leading to one big diamond in the middle. Fairy Godmother delicately laid it on top of my head.

Dad gave us both a smile and uncovered Fairy Godmother's wand. Mom gently grabbed the wand and presented it to Fairy Godmother. Fairy Godmother then turned to Ben and me.

"Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" asked Fairy Godmother.

"I do solemnly swear." Ben said

"I do solemnly swear." I echoed.

"Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king and crowned Royal Princess." Fairy Godmother tapped my shoulders then Ben's.

Suddenly the wand was yanked out of Fairy Godmother's hand and it began to crackle and shot out a bolt of lightning as Jane waved it around.

"Child, what are you doing?!" yelled Fairy Godmother. We all began to take cover. Ben went to cover Mal as Jay grabbed me and shielded me with his body.

"If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself! Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!" Jane yelled as she tried to get a handle on the wand, but it just seemed too powerful for her.

"Take cover!" yelled Dad as he held Mom and Fairy Godmother back.

Suddenly Mal ran from behind Ben and wrestled the wand from Jane.

"Be careful Mal!" yelled Mom.

Mal came out with the wand and Jane ran away into the crowd. Dad and Ben carefully walked towards Mal.

"Mal, give me the wand." Ben said carefully.

"Stand back. " Mal said forcefully

"It's okay."

"Ben, I said stand back!" yelled Mal

"I told you so!" yelled Audrey. I just shook my head and the palm of my hand lightly hit my forehead.

Mal turned her body and the wand towards Audrey. Everyone gasped thinking she would use it on her.

Evie, Carlos, and even Jay ran behind Mal and I stood behind Ben.

"Let's go." said Carlos

"Revenge time." Jay said. I didn't even have a second to comprehend what he said.

"You really want to do this?" asked Ben.

"We have no choice, Ben! Our parents..." Mal said.

"Your parents made their choice." Ben said.

"Now you make yours." I said looking directly at Jay, who was avoiding my eyes.

"I think I want to be good." Mal said.

"You are good." Ben said.

"How do you know that?" exclaimed Mal.

"Because... Because I'm listening to my heart." Ben softly said.

"I want to listen to my heart, too." Mal said then she turned to Evie, Carlos, and Jay. "And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents. I mean, stealing things doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team and going on dates with Isa makes you happy."

I gave Jay a small smile and he returned one to me.

"And you," Mal turned to Carlos. "scratching dude's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?" She chuckled.

"And Evie... You do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart. And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy. I want to go to school. And be with Ben. Because Ben makes me really happy. Us being friends makes me really happy." Mal sounded like she was close to crying as she held up her hand with Ben's ring. "Not destroying things. I choose good, you guys." Mal held out her fist.

"I choose good, too." Jay said, bumping his fist with Mal

"I choose good." Evie held her fist out as well.

"So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents will be?" We all chuckled at Carlos. "Because they're gonna be really, really mad."

"Your parents can't reach you here." I said.

"Okay, then. Good." Carlos smiled and bumped his fist with the rest of them. Then Carlos, Evie, Jay, and Mal looked to me and Ben.

"Come on." Mal whispered and we joined in the fist bump. People began to cheer and clap until thunder sounded. Everyone began to move back. I stood behind Dad and Ben was in front of Mom.

"I'm back!" exclaimed Maleficent.
"It can't be." Whispered Mal. "Go away, mother."
"She's funny. Oh! I'm so... you're very funny. Here. Wand me. Chop chop." Maleficent held out her arm to grab Fairy Godmother's wand.
"No!" yelled Ben as Mal looked like she would give her mother the wand but then threw the wand to Fairy Godmother.

"Bibbidi-bobbidi..." Fairy Godmother began.

Suddenly Fairy Godmother was in the middle of the aisle.

Ben roared and charged towards where Maleficent was. Wait where did she go?

"Okay, okay! Oh! We kinda got this all wrapped up here." Mal caught Ben and calmed him down a bit. Ben then grabbed Mal and twirled her.
"Oh!" exclaimed Mal.

Jay then took me and buried me into a hug.

"Why do you smell a little burnt?" I asked then Jay just laughed and buried me even deeper.

"Hey!" exclaimed Mal when a guard almost cut a lizard's tail off with the glass cover meant for Fairy Godmother's wand. "Careful! That's my mom!"

We all chuckled and crowded into a group hug.

"Well, let's get this party started!" yelled Jay.

"Ohayohay, hey!" We all yelled.

Then we ended our night at the huge party in front of Auradon Prep. Throughout the night, Jay was my partner for the dances and it was positively amazing. We danced the night away.
