Alex stopped at a red light. Catalina had been kicking her feet in the backseat, and flailing her arms around. Alex reached behind her seat to pull out one of the bottles from the baby bag. Alex struggled to wave the bottle in front of her baby sister, relived that she took it in time for the light to turn green.
Alex kept driving, not trying to rise her brakes. Catalina squeezed the milk bottle all across the seats of the car. Adelaide looked back at the baby in shock. "Cat!" She exclaimed. Alexandria scoffed. "Not my car." She said as she pushed her foot a bit on the gas.
Adelaide has been relatively quiet the entire car ride. Alex looked at her with a sigh. "Hey, can you do me a favor?" Alexandria asked. Adelaide looked at her older sister, licking her dry lips. "Sure." Adelaide said as she straightened herself out in the seat.
"Look in the little glove compartmentto see if there's a box of cigarettes." Alex said. After this morning, she was going to need one. Adelaide sighed as she opened the compartment, and shuffled through a few papers. She found a box and opened it, nearly gagging at the smell. "Right here." Adelaide mumbled. Alex smirked to herself as she took a hand off of the steering wheel. She reached into the pocket of the jacket, hoping she left her lighter in there. All she felt was a prick. A thorn.
"Goddamnit!" Alex yelled as she pulled over to the side of the road. They were nearing the pet store, but now all three girls' right index fingers were bleeding. Catalina started crying and Adelaide had been looking in the box. "Adelaide, is there anything in the box that explains what the hell the roses and thorns are for?" Alex asked as she tried to calm Cat down with waving her fingers in front to her face.
Adelaide kept looking through the papers. "No, but I think I have an explanation. In science class, we were talking about flowers. And how some roses have thorns on them. Thorns are called briar." Adelaide said cautiously. Alex pulled her fingers away from Cat's face to turn to her younger sister.
"My middle name." Alex whispered. Adelaide scoffed. "The first one, at least." The 12 year old girl commented. Catalina had stopped crying, but stilled whined in the backseat. "Keep looking through those papers, kid." Alex said as she began to drive.

Upon arriving at the pet store, Adelaide was very excited. She got out of the car and waited for Alex to take Cat into her arms. The 12 year old girl pulled her sisters into the store, being slightly halted by the smell.
"We need bowls, food, and- and-" Adelaide said hurriedly, being stopped by her older sister. "Adelaide, calm down. We'll get all of that. Dad gave me his credit card." Alex said calmly into her sister's ear. She had put Cat into the baby seat on the cart, wheeling her through the aisles. Something felt off. All of the animals they had were acting weirdly. For one thing, the birds had stopped chirping. The usually hiding amphibians and reptiles has been pressed against the glass walls of their cages. The fish was all swam in one direction. The dogs had cocked their little heads to the side, and the cats meowing.
Catalina was giggling at all the animals while in the cart. She wiggled her fingers at the dogs. "Hi." She said in a giddy baby voice. The dogs began to bark and paw at their cage doors. Alexandria noticed how they only started to do that when Catalina talked. She put her arm on Adelaide's and pulled her and the cart into the food section.
"Hurry up. I don't want to be here anymore." Alexandria said as she looked at the different cat food brands. Adelaide chose two bags off food, silver bowls, and a white neck collar. Alexandria was quick to wheel the cart to the cashier, Catalina giggling at the sudden shift of speed.

Alexandria had been gripping the steering wheel. Catalina had fallen asleep as soon as she was put into her carseat. Adelaide has so kindly put the things they bought in the trunk of the car, And was currently reading through the papers that Gran had left in the box.
"Alex, have weird things been happening to you at school?" Adelaide asked. Alexandria glanced at her before looking in the rearview mirror. "What do you mean by weird?" She asked the second Grier daughter. Adelaide shrugged as she looked put of the window.
"I mean...weird things happening when you're alone." She explained, watching the trees go by. Alexandria felt the rubber cover on the steering wheel press into her palms as she held it tighter.
"Yeah, all the time." She said shortly, speeding up the car a little bit. Adelaide sighed as she looked back to the box on her lap. "I feel bad for Cat. She never met Gran, but Gran knew she was coming. Before she was even conceived." Adelaide said with an astonished tone. Alex shrugged while looking at Cat's legs kick in the rearview mirror.
"Maybe they talked to Gran about having another baby." Alex suggested. It was around 1pm in Forks. There were grey clouds over the town, and not a lot of clouds were out. Adelaide shook her head in disbelief. "The way Gran told him about Cat...it's like she already knew that Cat was going to be here in the future. She already knew about Cat before Mom and Dad." Adelaide said.
Alex looked at her sister with a skeptical glance. Adelaide looked out of her window. They were nearly home now. Alexandria slowed down the car and looked back at Catalina. The baby had began to fall asleep, fighting to stay awake as she kept flinching, jumping in and out of consciousness. Alex smiled at her baby sister. Even at such a young age, she had so much life in her that Alex couldn't help but admire. Then Alwx looked at her younger sister Adelaide. She was such a good girl, so quiet and reserved. There was a hint of fire in her eyes that she had yet to awaken which made Alex so happy.
Alex was pulled out of her reverie when she saw someone in the rode. A man with blondehair and a black jacket. He was painfully beautiful, and it seemed as though he was walking towards the car; the same car Alex had been driving very quickly. As Alex was about to push her foot on the brakes, she blacked out. Her head fell on the steering whe and the car went out of control.
Alex felt odd in that moment. She was now standing right in front of the man. He tilted his head in curiosity, confused as to how she could be in two places st once. She didn't feel like herself. Well, of course she felt like herself. But she didn't feel real. It all felt like an illusion; some type of dream. Alex turned to see the car she was driving with her in the front seat. She saw Adelaide in the front with a scared look on her face. She saw herself passed out at the wheel. Once she realized that this in fact was not really her, she saw herself wake up and then everything went black again.

Everything felt numb in that moment. She felt the car swerve. This would be her second car-related near death experience in Forks. She had felt the car jolt as she swerved, and she felt her head hit the steering wheel. She heard Cat cry and Adelaide nearly crashed through the windshield. A passerby must've called the police, because Alex couldn't understand feel the glow of ambulance lights and being lifted onto something. She knew someone was trying to talk to her, but she was too far in her head right now.
