The Grier children had been taken to the hospital, and were split up. Adelaide and Catalina went to the children's wing, and Alexandria was examined by none other than Carlisle Cullen. He didn't know it was Alexandria until he go into the room, and his eyes trailed to her face. She had a fearful and distant expression on her face. Her eyes were glossy and she was cradling herself.
"Alexandria." Carlisle said in a gentle voice. She kept her gaze fixated on the chair that was behind his left leg, and her head swayed back and forth slowly. Carlisle reached out to touch her, an action which had been met with a negative response. She flinched at him and moved backwards on the hospital bed. "Alexandria, it's Carlisle. You're safe now. You're not in the car anymore." He told her reassuringly, moving closer and fully putting his hand on her shoulder. A banging was going on in her head. It felt like someone was trying to rip out her brain. Carlisle began the examination. She didn't have any injuries, which was incredible due to the fact that her car nearly flipped over.
'You could've killed them. You could've killed them. You could've killed them. You could've-' She thought before being drawn in a hug. "Oh, honey." She heard her mother say. When did her mother get into the hospital room? They must've been notified. Carlisle left the room when Alexandria laid back down on the bed and closed her eyes, breathing heavily. She felt those her throat was closing as she let out a cry. What had been happening to her? Why was everything so off? Ever since she came to Forks, everything in her life has shifted every which way. Daphne stroked her hair as she scrunched her face and wailed. Carlisle could hear her cries from down the hallways with his vampiric hearing. He knew Jasper would be all over him at home wondering why he didn't call to let the soldier know that his mate was in the hospital for yet another accident. But Alexandria would be too shaken up to try and talk to him.

After the release papers were signed a couple hours later, the family drove home nearing 10 in the night. Matthew's car was totaled, but at least his girls were safe. The contents they bought were retrieved unharmed, and Matthew and Daphne came into the house with cat essentials. Adelaide went to her room, and Matthew put Catalina to sleep. Daphne wanted to speak to her eldest daughter, but knew she would want to relax. Alexandria went to her room, and closed the attic door. She changed her clothes and went to bed, but couldn't fall asleep. She heard a noise in her room and sat up in her bed. When she thought it was Jasper, she pulled her covers closer to her body. But it was only the black cat that Adelaide brought home. The cat hopped onto Alex's bed and nuzzled underneath her arm. Alexandria didn't realize that she started crying until the cat meowed in the darkness. She wiped the tears away with the back of hand and sniffled. The unnamed cat meowed again and nuzzled closer to Alexandria, trying to make her stop crying.
A part of Alexandria wanted Jasper to come to her room and hold her. His voice always lulled her to sleep. Another part of her wanted nothing to do with anyone.

When Monday came around, Daphne called Bella's father Charlie and told him to tell Bella not to pick Alexandria up that morning. Daphne would take Adelaide and Alexandria to school until Matthew could get a new car. Alexandria got into the front seat with her book bag at her feet, and Adelaide got in the backseat with her book bag next to her. Adelaide rested her arm on her hand, which was propped up on the arm rest. Daphne turned on lukewarm air and played jazz music on the radio to break the silence in the car. Not one of them talked the entire way there. Adelaide looked out of the window and saw her older sister's reflection in the mirror. Alexandria looked at her mother wearing her work clothes, casual yet business attire. She then looked at her own clothes: she wore ripped jeans, brown boots, a black camisole shirt, and a red flannel over her arms. Her locket and a long chain with the crucifix hung around her neck, and her hair was down and wet.
