"Ally! What are you doing all the way over here, all by yourself?" I look behind me and see Lindsey with her hands on the back of my chair.
"I'm just sitting, waiting to go home." I say.
"What? No you can't go home yet. Have you not seen any of the guys checking you out all night?" I look around. Lindsey is right. I spot at least five guys looking in my direction. "Lesson one of being a girl: try making out with boys, or getting a boyfriend, or at least something." She says, exasperated. Lindsey is the expert, and I did say I wanted to become more of a girl.
"But I'm drunk."
"Good. Then you'll be more confident. You don't even seem that drunk. I put effort into getting you to look hot, so don't waste it." She makes a good point there.
"Okay." I smile. "Maybe I'll find myself a boyfriend tonight."
"That's my girl! Good luck. And don't forget to talk to Zac for me." Lindsey gives me a hug and walks away. What is it with girls and hugs? Why can't Zac give me hugs? I sigh. I guess I'm going to have to find a boyfriend and talk to Zac, just as I said I would.
I scan the room, looking for possible boyfriends. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be looking for. Uh huh. I think I see one. He's cute and has brown hair that's just a little too long, a good build too. Now how do I get his attention? I think back to all the girls who have gotten Zac's attention. It normally starts with eye contact. Well that's going to take too long. He's not even looking in my direction. I decide to walk right past him into his line of sight, that way he'll be forced to look at me.
That's exactly what I do, and it works. Yes! Good move Ally. I look at him through my made up eyelashes. What's the point of painting eye lashes? He's looking right back at me and eye contact has been made. I do that bashful blushy thing girls do when Zac looks at them. I think it makes guys feel more in control or something. I don't know but for some reason it makes them not feel scared to come over and talk to you. Guys can be such wusses.
As predicted, he comes over to me. "Hey." He says, giving me the cute smile that attracted me to him in the first place.
"Hey." I smile back. Oh no. Do girls normally say hey, or do they not talk and play hard to get?
"I'm Jordan. What's your name?" Jordan is a cute name.
"Ally."
"Ally is a cute name." He smiles that nice smile again.
"Thanks. That's exactly what I was thinking about the name Jordan." I smile back.
"You have a nice smile." Is this guy a mind reader or something? He's saying exactly what I've been thinking about him. I don't know what to say so I just do the blushy thing again. "So Ally, how do you know Zac?" Of course he knows who Zac is. It is Zac's party after all.
"Oh. He's uh a friend from school. A pretty close one actually."
"Oh? You guys going out or something? I didn't know he actually dated anymore but..."
I laugh. "Oh please. Zac and I are as far from dating as possible. I wouldn't be stupid enough to date him anyway." That's a lie. "Everyone knows he's a player. We're just friends."
Jordan laughs back. "Well that's a relief. I didn't peg you for a stupid girl anyway." Well, I must be stupider than you think.
"So how do you know Zac? I'm pretty sure I haven't seen you around school."
"Oh Zac and I go way back." Really? That's strange. Zac and I go way back too and I'm pretty sure he's never mentioned you. "He doesn't talk about me much though."
