I wake up to the sound of clanging pots and pans in the kitchen. I open my eyes and blink a few times, bringing PJ into focus. He’s standing in my kitchen pouring pancake mix into a pan. Awh. I must admit, that’s pretty sweet of him. I didn’t think anyone would actually make the pancakes.
Before I can say anything, Josh blocks my view of PJ. He squints at me mockingly. “Hey Ally. Are you sure you and Zac never canoooodled?” he says, putting an emphasis on the word canoodle. “Because you sure look like you are now.”
I sit up abruptly and realise that my head was lying on Zac’s chest, and his arm is lying protectively around my waist. I toss his arm off me. “Ew. No way.” I say, putting on my best grossed out face. “Please tell me he didn’t drool on my head.” Even though the likelihood of Zac actually drooling is slim to none.
Zac opens his eyes half way and runs a hand through his already messed up hair. A classic boy move. “I wasn’t drooling.” He grumbles.
“Aw Zac. It’s okay.” I say, punching his arm playfully. “Drooling is a perfectly normal thing to do.”
“Shut up.” He says smiling, throwing the pillow underneath him at me.
“Pancakes are ready!” PJ yells from the kitchen. At the sound of that, Zac and I stop teasing and Josh stops watching us.
“Did someone say pancakes?” Cooper asks, waking up and standing up all in one move.
PJ puts one steaming plate of disproportionate looking pancakes on the kitchen bench as the rest of us sit down around it.
“Nice cooking skills.” Josh smirks.
“As if you could do any better.” PJ retorts. “Your meal is served.” He says in a posh accent. “The unattractiveness of these pancakes will soon be covered with mountains of maple syrup and ice cream.”
“Uh PJ… I actually don’t have any maple syrup.” I say.
“What? But then how did you expect someone to make you pancakes.”
“I don’t know.” I shrug, feeling a little bad. PJ clearly doesn’t make pancakes very often, and he’s just made some to cheer me up. Speaking of cheering me up... “So, any plans for revenge come in during the night?”
“We could stuff a ping pong ball in his truck’s gas pipe.” Josh says. “That’s what I came up with.”
“Mmm… it’s pretty good for one of your ideas.” I say. Josh frowns, clearly offended. “But no.”
“We’re trying to think like girls remember?” Cooper says.
“Haha. Right.” PJ says, clearly doubting our feminine abilities.
“Well, you’re the one dating Lindsey.” Josh says, turning to Zac. “You come up with something.”
“Well Ally’s the one that’s actually a girl.”
All eyes blink at me. “Ugh. You know what? This is useless. I really don’t want to have to do this, but I’m calling Lindsey.”
“We already tried that remember?” Cooper points out the obvious.
“Yeah, but this time I’ll be the one talking to her.” I grab my phone and walk into the bathroom, locking the door behind me. I can’t have any of the guys coming in here, or the conversation with Lindsey probably wouldn’t get anywhere.
She picks up on the third ring. “Ally! Hey I’m so glad you called. I’m so sorry about what happened yesterday. The green eyed monster just came out and I don’t know what I was thinking. I mean, why would PJ be calling me if you and Zac weren’t there? I’m so stupid. We’re still friends right?” She says this all in one breath.
