The school bell went and they walked out of the class. Tristan thought this school was like his last one. Same lame teacher that doesn't care about their job, same things he is taught, same old, same old. But the one thing that made it worth going to this school, was the friends.

"Wow, your really smart." Alice complemented him.

"Thanks. I mostly just like to tinker." He answered running his hands through the back of his hair. "Hey um, where did you get that key?" He asked.

"Oh this old thing? I got it from my grandfather. He said it was hundreds of years old and the story was that it was made from some old guys with a long, blond moustache." She replied looking down to it.

"It's nice." Tristan responded trying not to be rude. "Do you want to come to my place? It's just that key looks like it could pick a lock I haven't been able to open." He said awkwardly.

"You think this key is going to be able to pick one of your locks?" She asked raising an eyebrow.

"Well no harm in trying, right?" He persuaded.

"I guess not." She answered as they began walking to his house.

Along the way Alice admired the beautiful forest. The path they took lead right threw it. During autumn this place was magical with all it's orange, yellow and red leaves. They came over a hill and the forest ended and lead right to the back of Tristan's house.

"Wow, I didn't know there was a shortcut to school through the forest." She stated.

"What makes you question?" Tristan asked.

"Well, I live just down the lane, not far from you actually. So I'm going to have to take this path to school from now on knowing its shorter." She responded.

"Didn't know you lived so close." He said.

"We all live close. James, Sally and Sully's house is that way, and mine and Harry's is that way." She said pointing to the left then to the right.

"Cool, follow me." Tristan instructed as he leaped over a fence into his back yard. "You coming?"

"Are you kidding me, I have to jump a wall to get in?" She said sarcastically.

"Well the front door is always locked so, yeah." He said waiting for her on the other side.

"Fine." Alice leaped over the fence effortlessly landing on the other side in a pile of leaves.

"You ok?" Tristan asked offering her a hand.

"Yeah, yeah fine. Good thing you have something soft to land on when you jump over."

"Yeah, sorry about that. We haven't been able to get out our front door since it was locked. Then we lost the key." He said helping her up.

"So you want me to unlock your front door with this key?" She asked laughing a bit.

"No, it would be odd if an old key like that could open my front door." He said chuckling.

"Then what do you want me to open?" She asked.

"Glad you asked, follow me." He said going through the back door and up stairs. His room was rather small but you could tell he used ever bit of space he could. There were drawings all over his desk of designs and he had different notes pinned to the walls everywhere. You would have to take a good long look to remember it exactly. "Ahhh, where is it?" He asked himself as he rummaged through the papers on his desk.

"What are you looking for?" Alice asked admiring some of his dragon designs next to his bed.

"A book, it's very old and has a small lock on the front."

"You mean one like this?" She asked taking a book out from under his bed.

"Yes, like that exactly." He said walking over slowly.

"Wow you really love dragons don't you?" She said looking at all the dragon things in his room. There were designs of different looking dragons on the walls and now a huge book with a dragon on the front that kind of looked like James's dragon symbol on his bag except this one was black and curled up in a spiral.

"I haven't been able to open this book, my grandad gave it to me before he died but never gave me the key. And when I saw your key with the dragon around it I thought it was worth a try right?" He said sitting on the bed with the book in front of him.

"Well here you go, just be gentle." Alice said handing him the key and sitting beside him. Tristan took the key and started to try and open the lock.

"Ha! No way it fits!" He said happily.

"Well turn the key and see if it opens!" Alice said excited leaning in to take a closer look. Tristan turned the key and the lock opened.

"Unbelievable." He said shocked.

"Open it! Open it!" Alice squealed now as excited as he was. He carefully opened the book to the first page. A huge amount of dust spread throughout the room like a smoke bomb as he opened it. On the first page was a title and a bunch of dragon symbols surrounding a big one in the middle. The book was written strange. It was written in strange symbols neither Alice or Tristan could understand.

"Oh my gosh! Do you know what this is Tristan!" Alice squealed at the top of her lungs. Good thing no one was home because she could of woken up a dead man with that scream.

"A book?" Tristan asked sarcastically.

"ITS A BOOK OF DRAGONS!" She shouted louder turning a few pages quickly and gently scanning them.

"What do you mean?" Tristan asked looking closer at the book.

"LOOK! Look at these symbols. We might not be able to read the writing but look, it's our dragon symbols on our bags. They are all circling this big one in the middle. There are even some symbols I haven't seen before!" She shouted excited.

"But it could just be another one of those books people make up." Tristan said sighing thinking about the things the kids in his previous school would tell him.

"You think this book wouldn't be telling the truth. I KNEW THEY WERE REAL!" She shouted again.

"How to you know?" He asked.

"You think these symbols would just happen to be on our bags? Do you think you just happen to meet the person with the correct key to open a single book?" She asked him trying to prove her point.

"So your saying, this whole time...right under our noses...there was a hole history of DRAGONS?!" Tristan asked opening his eyes wider doubting himself less.

"YES! THIS MEANS DRAGONS EXISTED!"
