So this is it! The dragons are gone. They've left us. They've crawled, swam and flew back to where they once came. All I have is my best friend. All anyone has is Toothless, the LAST dragon. But I have to let him go. I spent all night rebuilding the automatic tail for him. I had tears in my eyes. Astrid came into the forge and helped me calm down. I looked to the new tail I was holding and lent my head on her shoulder. I know it isn't manly but I just bawled my eyes out. She kissed me on the forehand and we sat on the bench just hugging for a while. I was so upset that all the dragons are going extinct and now just because it is in their nature they have decided it's the end of their time. Toothless is the only one who is unable to leave because he needs me. I don't want him to go. I thought he would be with me until the end of my days but now that plans changed. Even though I love him, I have to let him go. Otherwise it's just not fair. I walked to the front of my house and saw Toothless sitting near the edge of the cliff behind it. I took a deep breath and started shaking. Another tear went down my eye. I walked over to him and showed him the tail. I tried to give him a smile but he knew what the tail was for because he had wide, watery eyes as well. I took off the saddle and put on the new tail. The tail worked perfectly and I collapsed to the ground in tears. Toothless came up and nudged me. I tried to give him another smile and he returned it. "I love you buddy." I said hugging him as he wrapped his wings around me. "I'll miss you." He gave me another gummy smile. Suddenly as his wings wrapped around me his spine lit up and started glowing again but this time much brighter. I look up to see his entire body becoming a glowing blue. There was a bright flash and my hand felt numb. I look down to it and see the strike class symbol on it, tattooed in a way. I look back up to him and his colour faded. I smiled and another tear ran down my face. "I will never forget you! Please don't forget me?" I begged patting him on the nose. My legs couldn't hold me any longer so I just continued to sit on the ground.

Suddenly Toothless picked me up in his mouth and took off from the ground. I had full trust in him so I didn't worry about the height. Even if he did drop me I wouldn't care right now. The other half of me is leaving. 'Will it really matter if my half does too?' I kept thinking this to myself as he placed me gently on his back while above our house. "One last fly, eh?" I asked and he did something he has never done before. I grabbed tightly onto his neck not wanting to fall off as he lifted up to the clouds. He glowed again as did the symbol on my hand. I had a flashback about everything me and Toothless have done together, except I saw it all through Toothless's eyes. From the moment he saw me to the battle of the red death. From the discovery of new lands to defeating the great Bewilderbeast. It was amazing. I snapped out of it and the glow on my hand disappeared. I felt special, a different kind of special. Like it was sad that Toothless was going but a good thing too. I grabbed tight to his neck and took a deep breath in. I didn't even need to speak as Toothless spun around heading towards the ocean. He pulled up and we flew up to the clouds. An icy breeze hit my face but I didn't feel cold. He spun several times and then fell. He took off again heading towards the ocean. He glided above it as he growled a kind sentence to me.

"G grrr grr." He said. I taught him how to say I love you but that's the best he can do. A tear ran down my face as I wiped it off. He landed back outside our house and I hopped off him.

"Don't ever forget me ok? I promise I will never loose a place in my heart for you Toothless." I said as another tear escaped me. He walked up to me and put his head over my shoulder pulling me closer to him. I hugged him and he pulled away. He shot a purple blast into the sky and it exploded. He looked back over to me and bowed. He rose and walked over to the edge of the cliff. He looked back and gave me the largest smile he possible could. Another tear raced down my left cheek as he leaped off the cliff. He flew up and spiralled several times around me in the sky. He shot another plasma blast and flew through it lighting himself on flame. He then lit his whole body in blue and swooped down above me missing me by an inch. He flew off heading towards the horizon. Astrid came out of the house and stood next to me as I watched my best friend fly away. We sat on the edge of the cliff as she leaned her head on my shoulder and I lent my head on hers. When Toothless was out of sight another tear hit the floor. That was that. The dragons were gone. The friend that gave me my purpose, is gone.

20 YEARS LATER

I walked up to my son, Stoick with the book of dragons under my arm. I just finished writing my story. I handed him the book and told him never to forget the dragons and the way Berk used to be. I told him this book contained everything. Every inch of information he needs. He thanked me as I then passed my fur cloak to him. The one every chief has passed down. He looked up to me with the ash symbol on his forehead. He smiled.

"Along with this cloak, pass down the book of dragons. Never let them be forgot. The last pages are for you to write your story. Keep adding pages for each generation that follows. Let the stories continue." I said and bowed to the new chief. Astrid came up and held my hand. Everyone cheered.

This is Berk. The great land that stands strong with the world. The small island that had the biggest adventures of all. The home of the man that changed the world, me. This pile of rock might be boring but we have the greatest history of them all. We had....DRAGONS!

"Woah!" Harry said.

"Man, that's deep!" Sully added.

"I feel sorry for him." Alice stated grabbing the book.

"What are the other pages?" Sally asked.

"Probably nothing important, I mean the dragons are gone. That's that...right?" James answered.

"NO! There has to be more!" Tristan exclaimed grabbing the book.

"Tristan what's the problem. The dragons are gone. There isn't anything more to it." Alice said trying to take the book off him to get his attention.

"No, you don't understand. There is a secret I have to tell you guys. When I was five I went into the hills and I swear I saw a little black lizard with wings about the size of a cat. In fact I think it had fur. I've always thought to myself it was just a dream but in Hiccup's story it explains the Night Fury to look exactly like it!" Tristan said taking back the book.

"So what are you saying?" She asked letting go of it.

"What if there are dragons?" He replied.

"Tristan. Incase you missed the detail where Hiccup said Toothless was bigger than a horse then what you saw was probably a dream." Stated James as he lied back against the tree trunk.

"No, I mean. What if the animals are evolving. What if the dragons are coming back?! What if....what if the dragons are already here but no one has seen them?"
