The Struggle

Asher was just starting to doze off when Alpha Dean, Aura, Lucifer, and Amber strode into the room. Asher watched their every move as they approached the bed.

Lucifer was the first to speak, "Well, Asher, it's time to get up!" Lucifer's mossy green eyes gleamed. Aura stepped out from behind Lucifer and smiled with encouragement. Alpha Dean only stared at Asher and Amber slowly pulled down the beige covers that were covering his beaten form. Asher shrunk away into the bed, afraid of the group. Alpha Dean murmured something to the group and they backed away from the bed. Asher timidly sat up and looked at the group cautiously. He was not about to trust the strange people, especially the middle-aged man, Alpha Dean.

Slowly Asher swung his legs over the bed. As both feet hit the ground Asher darted to the door but two strong arms enveloped him. Asher struggled against the person holding him but he soon tired out. Asher looked up to see who had caught him.

Alpha Dean looked down at the boy in his arms. He had been expecting such an act from Asher. Asher looked back at him with his stunning crystal blue eyes. Asher tried kicking again but realized it was no use.

"Asher," It was Aura talking soothingly, "It's okay.. If you settle down, Alpha Dean will let you go. But, you have to stay in here and not attempt to run away again. Okay?" Asher weakly nodded and Alpha Dean slowly lowered him to the floor and let go. Alpha Dean blocked the door now and Lucifer the window that was ajar.

"W-what do... y-you want from m-me?" Asher rasped. He fell to the ground and began sobbing. Everyone stared at him shocked, Lucifer sat down by him and looked at him with sorrow. In an instant Asher jumped up and over Lucifer, straight out the window. Lucifer tried to grab him but couldn't and Asher fell to the ground outside. Aura gasped and grabbed Alpha Dean's arm, Lucifer rushed out the door, and Amber rushed after Lucifer. Alpha Dean and Aura followed the others quickly. They rushed out the front door to the outside world and saw Asher running across the field.

Asher ran as quickly as he could. His whole body screamed in pain but he kept going, he needed to get away. He could hear the group of people gaining on him but that just made him run faster. Asher saw a dark green forest ahead, he just needed to get there. Before he could get any closer he tripped over a rock and it made him stumble. In an instant a body forced him down to the ground.

Lucifer lay on top of Asher keeping him down. Soon the rest of the group caught up. Asher struggled with all his strength to get away but Lucifer was too strong.

"Keep him down, son. Don't let him move an inch." Alpha Dean's gruff voice said from behind. Lucifer nodded and enveloped Asher in a head lock. Lucifer flipped over causing Asher to be on top of him and Lucifer on the bottom holding Asher in a head lock. Asher struggled more but soon gave up and whined.

"You shouldn't of ran, man." Lucifer whispered in Asher's ear.

"Hand him up to me." Alpha Dean grunted. Lucifer slowly released his grip on Asher and Alpha Dean took Asher into his arms. Asher whined in fear as to what was to happen but Alpha Dean only held him close. Lucifer stood up and wiped off his khakis.

"Geez, he's fast dad. I almost thought we lost him until he stumbled on a rock!" Lucifer exclaimed.

"Yeah, he is a good runner for sure. We'll need to be more careful next time." Alpha Dean grunted. The group nodded in agreement. Alpha Dean looked down at Asher and gasped. Asher was snuggled close to him and fast asleep. He looked comfortable and content.

"Dad?" Lucifer questioned. Alpha Dean looked up astounded.

"He's fast asleep snuggled up to me like a kitten?!!" Aura swatted Alpha Dean on the back of his head.

"Shhhhh!" she almost screamed at him. Alpha Dean frowned and gave her a dirty look as they made their way back to the Pack house.
