Piper P.O.V

A week later my dad had left after thanksgiving, my mum and Dave were packing for their honeymoon.

Chris and I had been getting on well. We were hanging out together, it was still a little awkward but not enough that we couldn't get through it. Luckily for him a lot of girls were queuing up for him it's not everyday the schools soccer captain become available. Sarah was being just Sarah and rubbing it in our faces that she broke us up. He had been on a couple of dates I had heard through the grapevine or I tortured it out of Gary but nothing substantial. Meg and Zack were also going strong and I had mastered the ability to sleep without crying.

It was our last week of the stupid literature project, sadly Mr Fitz still wasn't back so Zack and I hit the library after our school practices.

That's the other new thing. I was officially a cheerleader. Even thinking about it gives me the shudders but Alyssa is over the moon. Zara was off course disappointed with me but to be honest it was the least amount of work and they only had two practices a week Wednesday and Thursday after school.

After practice I headed to the library as per usual to work with Zack on our project.

"Hey."

I walk in to find him at our usual desk.

"Hey."

He smiles back at me.

"You stink." I reply as I scrunch my nose up.

"I didn't have time for a shower. Chris is pushing us so much that practice ran late."

He hisses at me.

"Ohhh that's right you have the qualifying game next week. It must suck to be you."

I grin cheekily, as I drop my bag down and sit opposite him clenching my nose.

He taps his pencil before smirking.

"That's right the game where you'll be cheering with your pom-pom."

He laughs and puts his arms up and shakes his invisible pom-pom.

"Prick."

I kick him under the table. And he gives me dirty look.

"Macbeth then?" I ask as I take my book out of my bag.

The following week flies in and before I know it it's 5.50pm. 10 minutes till game time, meanwhile I'm scared to death in the girls changing room as I get another pep talk from Alyssa.

"Just cheer like you did in the stands and be yourself. Do not be awkward and just have fun."

I nod along with her pep talk.

I stand up and try to pull the skirt down as it's so small, which I'm complaining about on Monday.
