Chapter 27

Piper P.O.V

I was sat between my mum and Ryan, I hadn't spoken a word since I was on the stand nighty minutes ago.

One by one my friends got on the stand and testified about the night of the party. Each time they were asked who tried to rape me and they answered the same, they didn't know. Well they did today. Each time one of them left the stand, they were told how I testified that Declan had tried to rape me.

Chris on the other hand nearly tried to hit Declan when he found out, he was thankfully restrained and sat back down. The judge was not happy.

Finally it was Zack's turn.

Rebeca asks him a few questions about his and Megan's romantic relationship. Before redirecting to the night of the party.

I can tell he wants to tell them but he stops himself.

Rebeca: "Zack, who was the girl that Declan tried to rape that night?"

Tears run down my face, I can tell he's not going to say my name.

Just tell the truth Zack.

I take a deep breath and look up our eyes meet and he stares back at me and I nod.

Zack: "Piper."

Rebeca: "Thank you Zack."

She looks at the jury.

Rebeca: "Zack has just proven that Piper was nearly raped by Mr Dyer, you've heard all the testimonies and they all match Piper's testimonies ."

Zack looks at me, he's finally clicks on that I've testified against Declan.

However, for the next thirty minutes he's continuously questioned about the aftermath, making sure his testimony's matches with the rest of ours.

An hour later, the judge closes the case for the day and we are excused. Ryan pulls me up and takes me to his car and I sit in the back. We don't speak on the way home, he drops Adam off home and then we go home.

Dave, mum, Rebeca and Zack are already at our home. Ryan and I join them in the living room.

Before anyone can say anything my mum comes over and hugs me crying. To be honest I'm done crying. I don't feel like I can anymore.

I hug her back.

"I let my baby down."' She cries.

"I'm fine mum." I whisper in her ear.

I turn round and see Zack getting hugged by Ryan and Dave.

"Your protected my sister, I owe you my life man." Ryan replies rather emotionally. Rebeca smiles at me as my mum lets me go and hugs Zack.

I walk over to Rebeca and hug her.

"Thank you." I whisper.

"I should be thanking you." She smiles at me.

"Maybe we should be clued in on what happened today at court?" Dave looks like he's going to kill Rebeca.

"It was my idea, Dave."  I look at him.

"Just sit down and I'll explain." I say and he nods and glares at Rebeca as we sit down, I sit beside her.

"The other day I went to the office to see Rebeca. I felt bad and wanted to help Megan. Rebeca refused my help but when she heard my story, she changed her mind and decided to help me. She didn't want to hurt you or mum."

I shake my head.

"She told me to sleep on it and if I wanted to tell my story in court she would help me."
