Piper P.O.V
So literally I'm standing outside Dave's office. That stupid Zack got in my head. I'm staring up at this huge skyscraper of a building, it probably wasn't that high but it did feel like it at this moment.
I walk in and head to the reception desk, where I approach the typical blouse and black pencil skirt receptionist.
"Hi." I smirk and she points her finger at me to shush me while she finished her call on her Bluetooth headset.
I stand there bewildered, what world was I in? I stand and wait for a couple of minutes till she finally answers me.
"Hi, welcome to Kane, Thornton and Brown, how can we help you?" She smiles brightly.
"I'm here to see Dave Kane please?" I reply.
She pauses for a few seconds checking her iPad.
"Mr Kane is currently in a meeting with a client. Could I book you in on another day?"
"No, I'll wait in his office." I smile.
She looks at me like I had told her to poke me in my ass.
"Sorry but Mr Kane does not allow that, this is a professional environment." She mocks me.
"Yes, I get that but I'm his step-daughter so make an exception."
I stare at her hard.
"Listen I think you should go your, causing trouble." I roll my eyes at her how am I causing trouble.
"Fine I'll just phone him then shall I?"
I pick up my phone and show her a picture of Dave and my mum.
"I'm dialling...." I threaten her.
"Stop! Fine you can go." She gives me a pass, shoving it in my hand.
"Great, last question where is Rebeca's office?"
She rolls her eyes before she replies.
"64th floor." She says begrudgingly.
"Thanks." I purposely skip to the elevator to annoy her.
In less than a minute I was at the 64th floor.
I walk around like a lost puppy, it was so big and busy it was scary.
"Excuse me." I say to the cleaning lady.
"Could you tell me where Rebeca's office is?" I ask nicely, she nods and points to an office at the end of this hall.
I go over and knock on the door, when I hear a reply I walk in and close the door.
She looks up from her desk and puts her pen down looking at me as she tries to recognise me in my jeans and long jumper. She's very beautiful with blonde hair and green eyes.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" She asks as I walk over to her desk and put my hand out to shake hers.
"I'm Piper Combs, Dave's step-daughter, we met at my mums wedding, briefly."
She nods and shakes my hand, signalling to me to sit down and I do.
"How can I help you Piper?" She asks nicely.
"I need a lawyer."
She nods at me and for the next forty minutes we talk.
"So you need to get on the actual stand.." I nod as I listen to her.
"I've got an idea, leave it with me." I reply.
She nods.
I turn as the door opens.
