Chapter 40

Piper P.O.V

"Oh my god be quiet. He was only having a laugh."

I shake my head as Zack tells me how he's going to get back at Mark.

"Let's do this." I smile as we both walk in through the front door, hand in hand.

"NO CHANCE!!!" Dave shouts from the living room.

Zack and I look at each other and let our hands go as we quickly walk towards the living room.

I find my mum and Ryan sitting on the couch whereas Zack's mum and Dave are arguing in the middle of the room.

"What's going on?" Zack asks as he stands between them.

I go over and sit between my mum and Ryan who look shocked.

"Your mother is being a total idiot." Dave spits.

"Mom what's going on?" Zack asks, looking confused.

"Your uncle is being fucking arsehole!" She shouts back.

"Noooooo... your mother wants to take you away to Dubai." He looks at her angrily.

I suddenly look at Charlotte. Is this for real?

"No! What I said was he could spend the summer with me and then he can do what he wants." She snaps.

"He needs to be here! To get ready for Harvard!" Dave snaps back at her.

"I'm his mother and I haven't seen him all year he's going to Dubai with me!!" She shrieks.

Dave shakes his head fuming at Charlotte.

"Zack pack your bags we leave tonight!" Charlotte yells as she slams the door behind her.

I look at Zack as he stands staring at Dave flabbergasted.

Dave shakes his head in defeat.

"Just go Zack and spend the summer with her. We'll help you set up for Harvard when you get back." Dave puts an arm around Zack as he leads him out the room.

I try to get up and follow Zack but before I do, my mum pulls me back. Her hand firmly placed on my shoulder.

"It's not your place Piper, leave them be for a minute then you can go up and help Zack with his packing."

I pause for a minute and sit back on the couch.

Knock! knock!

I tap my fist lightly against Zack's door and walk in.

"Oh sorry.."

I look apologetically at Zack and Dave as they both look towards me. They were both sitting on the edge of Zack's bed.

"I'll leave." I say quietly turning round.

"Piper?" I turn to look at Dave.

"Everything okay?" He asks, looking concerned.

"Eh yeah, mum just told me to come up and help Zack with his packing. I can come back though."

I add quickly.

"No, it's fine we're done here." He smiles lightly as he stands up and squeezes Zack's shoulder.

Zack looks down lost in his thoughts as I nod and walk into his walk in wardrobe.

"If you need anything let me know." Dave tells Zack as he leaves his room and closes the door.
