I let out a small gasp and stumbled out of my seat. "What are you saying, Adam?" I whispered.

He turned his gaze to me, a crazed look in his eye. "That was me and Dad's song." His voice dropped an octave.  "He used to sing it to me before I went to bed." He whispered, looking down. He glared up at Mike. Mike took a step back, into the wall. "You stole my song from me!" He hissed at Mike. "It was me and Dad's song, and you took it from me." He looked madder then I had seen him, ever. "It was the last thing I had of him to myself, and you stole it!" He shouted, lunging at Mike.

I reached out with reflexes I didn't know I possessed, and grabbed Adams arm. "Adam!" I cried. "Please don't, leave Mike alone."

I felt Adam relax into my arms, collapsing back. I caught his gently and looked down at him. "I'm sorry, Kens, Mikeal." He whispered, staring up at me. "I don't know what happened, I just lost it on him." He whispered up to me. I nodded and propped Adam up against me. He sagged, acting like a ragdoll in my arms.

"What's wrong with him?" Mike asked nervously.

"Nothing." I lied smoothly. "I think he just needs to lie down for a while." I smiled reassuringly at Mike. I saw him nod out of the corner of my eye as I helped Adam to his room and lay him on his bed. He groaned and rolled his face into the pillow.

"Are you going to question me now?" His pillow asked me.

I sighed and sat on the edge of his bed. "I have a good mind to." I muttered to him. He sat up and pulled me into his arms. "So why did you go off like that on Mike?"

He put his head against the headboard sighing deeply. "Truley, Kens. I really don't know what happened to me. I just, got over protective of me and Dad's song. I just blew up knowing that someone else had my song. My song. It was mine." He started out strong but then by the end his voice faded and he was whispering.

"You didn't have to act like that." I said softly, his grip on me tightened and I looked up at him. "What?" I asked worried.

"It's nothing." He sighed, and buried his head in my hair. "I really just don't know." He whispered.

I pulled away from Adam's chest and looked up at him. "I just don't understand." I whispered, gaging his reaction.

"And you think I do?" He asked, still not angry at me, because he was never angry at me. "I don't understand it, Kens. I just don't understand it." I pulled his head into my legs and brushed his long hair back.

I sat there, for the longest time, holding his head. "I'm going to be late to school if I don't leave soon." I told him as I rolled off his bed.

He nodded and smiled slightly. "Need a ride?"

"I can drive, you taught me."

He nodded as if he had forgotten and just remembered. "Of course. Will you drop Mike off or will you be late?"

I glanced at the clock in his room, glaring at the numbers. "I think I can make it." He nodded. "Bye, Adam."

"Be safe." He told me, the same thing he told me every morning.

"I always am." I answered, the same thing as always.

"Mikeal." I called as Mike started to walk away from the car.

"What?" He called back.

I held up his backpack. "Forgetting something?"

For half a moment he looked confused but then ran back to my car and grabbed his backpack from my hands. "Thanks, sis."
