I gunned my car and listened to the engine purr as I backed out of my driveway. I drove through the silent night to the graveyard. I turned on the radio in an attempt to break the silence that creeped all around me.

I hated the song that was playing but I didn't want to bathe in silence again so I left it on.

The song died and I was still driving. Only a few more minutes, I told myself impatiently.

I tapped my left foot, wondering if Adam had woken yet. I hit the accelerator and sped down the road. The top of my car was down and the wind whipped my golden locks around my face. I unconsciously smiled, I felt free.

I kept my foot firmly on the accelerator until the graveyard came into view. I slowly let up on the gas as I approached.

I turned off my car and barely remembered to grab my keys out of the ignition before bounding through the graveyard to get to Ashley's grave.

I sunk to my knees in front of her headstone. The grass was wet and it seeped through my dress but I was beyond caring. "Hi Ash." I whispered softly. "So I went to a dance today." I laughed, knowing that's what her reaction would be. "Keghan took me, we're together now, by the way. And it was so much fun but I wish you were there with me, it would have made it so much better. So I learned how to dance too. Keghan taught me, it's super fun. And we slow danced, and it was so amazing Ash, I'm so in love with Keghan. I know he's in love with me too. Me and Jess are fighting, I told her to find another group of friends. She punched me, anyways. Ashley, I have to tell you about the dance. So they took a moment for everyone to remember you. I think I started something though... I said your name and then everyone did, even Jess, we chanted it then whispered it. I think everyone misses you Ash." I sighed. "I found out a little about my father. I found out he was a faerie, believe it or not. And that I am half faerie, so I have powers, Keghan is a Fae too. He's told me so much Ash." I smiled at her headstone, it was simple really, it said her name in fancy script and under that it said friend and daughter. "I'm telling you about my dad because you're the only one I can tell. I'm trusting you not to tell anyone." I had to fight the urge to laugh and my stupidness, of course you wouldn't tell anyone.

I sat at Ashley's grave for a long time. After a while I stood and dusted off imaginary dirt from my knees. "Bye Ashley, I'll come and visit later, I promise."

I tore through the graveyard, chasing invisible people to my car. I was panting by the time I reached my car on top of the hill. I hopped inside and started my car quickly.

I took off through the night, leaving Ashley with my imaginary racing partners, leaving my light to lay in the dark.

I sped home, counting on the fact that all the cops would be resting and the cop cars would be retired for the night. The minutes ticked by as I got closer to home.

I pulled into my driveway and gave a mental cheer, seeing that the lights in my house were turned out.

I silently stepped into my house and winced as the lock made a slight click when I closed the door behind me. I looked around the living room and sighed in relief when I saw no Adam leaning in the dark, waiting for me.

I climbed up the stairs to my room, making sure to keep my feet quiet and my ears perked for the sound of other people, awake in the house. I slipped into my room and left the door slightly opened. I quickly stripped off my dress and pulled on Nike short and an old t-shirt.

I collapsed into my bed and within moments I was asleep, too tired to notice the shadows that creeped in through my open door.
