I tried to forget

The words just didn't seem to fit,
Like the palms of our hands even when we tried to deny it.
It wasn't you and it wasn't me,
It just wasn't the time to try and be.
To be more then either of us could have ever imagined,
I just didn't know losing you was part of the plan and...
I'm sorry I tried to hard,
And I'm sorry that your ex left you so fucking scarred.
It's difficult for me to understand,
why anything in this life can never just go as planned.
Because I loved you and you didn't love me,
all I wanted was for you to just see.
That no matter how fucked up both of us could be
I just knew In my heart that you were the one for me .
Those big brown eyes and brawny arms that held me so tight.
God,
We both knew what we were doing wasn't right.
And I tried to forget trust me I did,
How you kissed me that night,
like we were just kids.
In that moment all I could envision,
Was that life without you wasn't a life worth livin.
I tried to forget I promise I did,
How unlike our palms our lips just fit,
But That's the problem with us isn't it ?
Some parts of us fit perfectly
While others just fall off like apples from trees.
We thought it was all fun and games,
Until Our promise had gone up in flames.
In that moment I watched us crumble
like a burning building,
I'm sorry I'm just trying to pick up the rubble.
But while shifting through
all I can find are the pieces of you,
The pieces I would choose every day through and through .
I swear i never meant to feel this way,
But after it started it was too hard to let it get away.
To go back to not knowing you,
Was not an option I was going to chose .
But here I sit bare boned,
Wanting nothing more then to be alone .
Because if not being with me,
Is going to make you be the happiest person you can be .
I'd risk it all every time,
If it meant you were going to be happy.
