Natsu's equal and other half (Natsuxoc)

Part 4-Just You and Me... and the Cats

After the fight, Kai returned to her flat, a nice small and cosy estate suited for a single person. It was very similar to Lucy's home but cost a little less, only 60,000 jewel a month. It had a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and even a balcony to view the outside. It was located in the outskirts of Magnolia, much like Natsu's home, allowing perfect peace and harmony.

Currently, Kai was in the kitchen, making a certain type of spicy chilli beef stew, whilst her exceed companion was dicing some fish for a sushi platter to share between them. Their meal was almost done, so they left to prepare the table, only to have an unexpected guest...

"Hey!" Natsu said whilst waving and sitting on a chair in the small room.

"Aye!" Happy added whilst holding a fish wrapped in a bow.

"... Hello there." Kai responded, with a cheery smile that could out rival Mirajane on a good day.

"... Wait, you're not surprised or gonna kick me out at all?"

"Nah, I've got heightened senses too so I knew you were here, plus... I kinda do the same thing sometimes..." She said in a slightly embarrassed chuckle.

"Oh, okay... so what's cooking?"

"Just making some chilli beef stew..."

"And a platter of sushi filled with lots of different fish!"

At this, both Natsu and Happy drooled,  from which Kai and Joy simple giggled.

"Do you want some?" Kai asked.

"Oh... o-okay..." He said, partially unprepared.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just that WAY before this point of the conversation when I'm usually at Lucy's house, she would either 'Lucy Kick' me, shout at me constantly, or try and make me leave as soon as possible..." He said with a hint of sadness.

Kai, feeling sympathetic, decided to make him feel better by saying "Awww, you poor thing, you were just visiting to make sure she's okay."

"Yeah well, I do mainly come through her window..."

"Well, I'd do the same anyway..." She said with a tone of understanding

Natsu, now smiling said "Thanks Kai, you might be the only person to really get me..." In a sincere voice.

Kai just smiles greater at his compliment, and in return, Natsu's smile becomes larger as well.

"You liiiiiiike him/her!" Happy and Joy said at the same time, with their paws on theirs cheeks.

"Yeah, so? He's a good friend, so there's no problem here." Kai responded with quick as lightning, ultimately defeating the feline's teasing remark.

"Well okay, I'll finish the stew and sushi, Natsu can you please set up the table?" She asked with a kind tone, which Natsu responded with a simple "Kay."

After 5-10 minutes later, the table was set and food was put on it. Natsu was about to dive into the meal, but remembered to be more polite and waited for Kai to take some first, which she responded by saying it's fine, so he poured some stew into his bowl.

Most people would expect this to be the point where Natsu would eat like a wild animal that hasn't seen food for a month, but instead he was actually eating slowly, using cutlery and NOT making a mess of the whole table.

"So, how is it?" Kai asked in hopes of his approval.

After a few seconds of silence and Kai worrying that it wasn't good, Natsu finally answered with an outburst of "This is the BEST thing I've EVER TASTED!" With signs of admiration and satisfaction, making Kai slightly sigh in relief.
