Ik, I love them. If you've ever talked to me, seen me commenting in books or prowling the forums, you've most likely seen me use them. A lot.
Buttttt
You don't use them in stories, and I repeat, you don't use them in stories.
It just pisses me off when stories are like,
"Hey, my name is Ella! I'm sixteen this year, and I have long blonde hair and beautiful sea-blue eyes. :) I'm a total shopaholic but I can't stop myself :p I also love my boyfriend very much, he's such a hottie and sweetheart. <33333 I'm real sleepy now, gotta go sleep, goodnight :) zzzzzz"
It's bad enough she's describing herself (another rant), but she also uses emojis.

it's cool when you use emojis in text messages, but when in stories it's a big no-no
