Chapter 10

" Hey, what took you so long?" Asks Liberty as soon as Jade comes over to their table.

Jade immediately thinks of an excuse and says she had trouble finding her blow drier only to remember how she forgot it at home.

" Oh I actually have one, you could've just asked me." Says one of the girls.

" Thanks, I might need it tomorrow if you wouldn't mind" Jade replies with a small smile to which the girl agrees and Jade sits down.

Liberty looks at the girl with a very subtle hint of annoyance followed by a vile smirk as if warning her of something she shouldn't do.

The girl took notice of this and gets scared.

Across from Liberty, Jade sits down at the round table, oblivious to the scene before her

" Jade, I've heard you're partners with Kevin for the history project? How's that going for you?" Asks Liberty

" Yeah, it's been alright" says Jade cautiously.

" Aww that's nice" Liberty warmly smiles.

Jade is a bit taken a back by Liberty's reaction knowing they had a thing together in the past but allows herself to loosen up a bit.

One of the girls seated beside Liberty gasps and asks Jade something.

" Wait, are you guys a thing?" She sheepishly asks

" oh no no no, we're good friends" Jade shakes her head, unaware of the blush creeping inside her mask

She subcontiously looks at Liberty, afraid she might think otherwise but Liberty continous to smile at her

" Really? Well, can't blame you, he's pretty friendly around girls" the other girl replies which earned a couple of giggles from the table

You're not special

" He's a bit on the weird side but that's just how he is" Liberty says almost bragging like she knows Kevin better than anyone

" Yeah?" Jade says awkwardly and Liberty nods reassuringly

" Jade, come with me." Says Liberty standing up from her seat and motioning Jade to stand too

Jade complies and Liberty links arms with her like they're the best of friends and heads towards the drinks section

Across the room, Kevin finally saw Jade and was about to call her when he noticed her ex with her and decided to keep his mouth shut but continued to observe them both

" Okay, I didn't want you to feel awkward and you seem like a nice girl but I just wanted to let you know that I had a thing with Kevin before..... but ya know, it's all in the past" Liberty waves her hand like it's no big deal

" and you know, if you and Kevin start to have a thing, it's totally fine with me" Liberty adds and smiles innocently while looking at Jade, waiting for some sort of reaction.

Jade starts to feel uneasy but quickly masks it with a smile and says " Oh we're just friends, really.... and that's not going to happen " she tells Liberty almost as if she's certain.

Liberty has this aura in her that makes you think otherwise about what she's saying and Jade feels it, like this uneasy feeling in your stomach that says 'something's bout to happen'

Don't you ever think of liking him b*tch

" You never know" Liberty laughs and nudges Jade lightly as if teasing her and Jade laughs awkwardly and shakes her head

Kevin intently watches the two from across the room trying to read their lips and guessing what they're talking about but he notices how awkward Jade looks.
