Chapter 9: Assault of the Two Rulers

5th December, Tengah

Arif

Tengah is an alien place to me. I don’t know any of its roads or location. What I am doing right now is just mindless running. The chances of me finding someone else is high. The chances of me being killed by them are higher. I gritted my teeth. This is bad. To make it worse, my heart is still guilty for leaving Nina behind. The two men look very strong. The fact they are from a Major House doesn’t make it look better for Nina. Unwanted visions entered my mind. I shook my head, hoping that the images would just vanish.

Damn, my stamina is getting back at me. I stopped in front of an abandoned restaurant. I was panting hard. I did run quite a distance. I hope that is far enough to stall time for Tengah to end. Unfortunately, sense of time didn’t seem to exist in Tengah so I couldn’t really tell how much time left until Tengah ends.

On a side note, I am now at what supposed to be a shopping district. It was void of life, unlike the real world. It is doesn’t surprise me. It is Tengah, a barren battlefield for people to kill each other off. The thought of killing already made me sad. It is a brutal reality.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps; fast footsteps which are getting louder by the second. My eyes widened. Someone is approaching. I cursed under my breath and took a turn to run. Seeing an alley, I thought it is a good way to lose him or her of my tracks. I entered the alley and ran straight.

The fact I didn’t knew Tengah bite back at me. Blocking my way to the other side of the alley was a fence. A really high fence. I cursed again under my breath. In desperation, I climbed the fence. I was never good at climbing. I nearly slipped once. I told myself never to turn back to see the person following me. Focus on climbing.

“Get down here brat!” The voice sends shivers down my body. My grip nearly lost on the fence. I recognize the voice. It was the long-haired man. Realization struck me. Nina has been defeated? No, it can’t be. She is there. I knew it.

I reached the top of the wire fence. Then I heard the long-haired man again.

“Don’t screw with me, kid!” The fence shook violently. I lost my footing on the fence and slipped. The sharp wire end made a large gash across my left forearm. I winced in pain. Resisting the pain, I pulled my body to the other side.

“GET DOWN!” The fence shook more violently than before. I lost my footing again and fell down hard on the ground at the other side of the fence. My back surged in pain. I got a quick look at the man. His teeth are grinding hard with each other in fury. His face is exhibiting madness and rage. His eyes are burning with desire to kill. My body trembled at the sight of the man.

“Kiiiiid!” The man howled and grabs the fence tightly. The fence was ‘ripped’

I was wide eye at the super-human feat. This man is not human. He is a monster. I can’t fight him. I will get killed.

The man has a large grin. He is enjoying this.

Wasting no time, I get up and ran again. I need to get away! A familiar sensation filled my insides. This energy...this is the same sensation when I got angry. My powers! The energy that filled my body made my steps swifter and faster. My fatigue decreases and my speed increases. With the new sensation, I continue running down the alley and out from the alley.

I took a sharp left when I left the alley. The road is clear. No signs of other representative. The howling monster is at a good distance behind me. I need to lose him. With this energy in my body, I can lose him!
