Illuminating the darkened room, the moonlight shone brightly throughout the sky. Sheer white curtains draped over the black window pane, causing a slight shadow to form as it drifted with the wind. It was a quiet night, only the ticking sound of the clock could be heard inside the room.

I sat on crossed legs atop my white and blue double-sized bed. I breathed in, trying to disregard everything that was currently happening. I closed my eyes and started to put my mind into focus.

Thinking back, it was only a few days ago when my friend and I were talking about how great it would be if we could levitate.

"If only we could fly," my friend sighed as we continued to go up a flight of stairs.

"Yeah, so then we don't have to go up these stairs every freaking time we need to ride a train," I laughed at her. "I know. I'll try to search a way so that we can soar across the sky!"

My friend mused at my excitement, "You do know that flying isn't really possible, right?"

I looked at her and put my hands over my chest, pretending I was shocked and hurt.

"How could you say that? We might be able to fly if we put our mind into focus you know~" I grinned as she shook her head at me.

I'm so going to prove her wrong. I smirked at that thought. I put all my mind into focus. Thinking about what I would feel if I was floating in the air.

. . . . .

Half an hour passed and I still wasn't floating.

Glob darn it. I sighed.

Just as I opened my eyes, I came into contact with something soft and round. I looked at this something and I saw my black Himalayan cat, Glynn, looking at me with his bright yellow slitted eyes. He jumped on me and rubbed his head on my chest and I slightly chuckled at him. "You're such a cutie when you're asking for my attention like this." He hissed at me then jumped off.

I was about to go after him when I noticed something. Why was I moving when I haven't even moved my feet yet? I looked down and saw the floor a few feet away from me. That's when I realized. I'm flying? I tried to move to the left and my body went there. I tried to move to the right, and the same thing happened!

I pinched myself once. Twice. Thrice. Harder.

"Ouch!" I exclaimed, in contrast with my brightly gleaming face. I'm freaking flying! I smiled brightly and flew all over my room. I opened the window to the balcony and flew higher. "This is the best thing that's ever happened to me!"

I then heard a brief knock from my room. Yep, it probably wasn't the best idea to scream out loud. I heard the door from my room opened. Oh shit.

Just when a foot stepped out of the balcony, I quickly flew over to the rooftop, hiding myself from view.

"Now where did that kid go?"

I'm up on cloud 9, Mom. Literally. I snickered at my own joke as I looked at her from above. I think she heard me snicker because she suddenly looked up. Thankfully, she wasn't able to see me since I was hidden by the branches of tree from sight.

My mom sighed and decided to leave the room. When I heard the door close, I sighed in relief and grinned widely. Just when I was about to go back to my room, I felt a hand tapped on my shoulder. I quickly turned around and - - -.
