"I'm afraid we have some bad news" said the doctor
Me and Daniel stopped breathing "what's wrong?" Daniel asked on the verge of tears
"Well, I'm afraid her appendix erupted and she's going to need surgery to fix it"
"HOLY SHIT!! IS SHE OK!" I asked tears running down my face
"Yes, for now, we drained most of the poison out of her but if we don't operate soon, that small amount might kill her" he said without any emotion in his voice
"WELL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD DO THE SURGERY!!" Daniel yelled
"I' afraid we can't without a parent or legal guardian's permission" he said "do either of you boys have her parents' number" he asked
"Here" Daniel said tarring a page out of a magazine, writing down the number and handing it to the doctor
"Thank you, we'll do all that we can to make sure that Amy is safe" he said taking the paper and walked away
I sat back down while Daniel just stood there and started crying. He sat down and put his head in his lap. I was on the verge of tears too, I LOVED her, if anything happened to her, I swear, I would kill myself just to be with her. We sat there for what seemed like hours. A few minutes later, the doctor came back out.
"We have permission to operate on your sister" he said speaking to Daniel "the operation will start in a half hour and your parents will be here soon" and with
that, he left. Suddenly I burst into tears. Daniel sat up and looked at me funny with red puffy eyes.
"Why are you crying?"
"Because I LOVE her" I almost screamed
"Will you two boys stop it!!" yelled the lady at the front desk "I've had enough of you two"
"Well if you had a relative or loved one go into surgery I'm sure you would do the same thing" snapped Daniel
She remained quiet
"Ya that's what I thought" said Daniel
A few more hours had passed and Daniel was fast asleep. I looked at the clock and it said 2:30. I rubbed my eyes, I couldn't fall asleep. I had to stay awake.
Just then, the front door burst open and a man and women ran in. I recognized them as Amy's parents. They ran up to the new lady at the front desk.
"Where's Amy" shirked Mrs. Carter
"Just a minute, let me look" said the lady
"Amy just finished with her surgery; they are finishing things and moving her to a room. Who are you?"
"Were her parents"
"Oh, well in that case you may go see her in a few minutes, I will call you when she's ready" she said sweetly
"Thank you"
"You're welcome, you may wait in our waiting room if you like" she said and went back to the computer
Her parents turned around to see me and Daniel staring at them. They walked over to us.
"How long have you guys been here?" asked her mother?
"Since about six in the morning" I said
"Wow, you must really care about your best friend" she said, talking directly to me
"Ya, I guess I do" I said and looked away. She was still my friend after all, I never asked her out. I will as soon as she gets out of the hospital. I promised
myself. Just then, the nurse called her parents
"You may go see Amy now" she said sweetly
"Can we go too?" I asked
"I'm sorry but at this point only her parents can see her. You boys can see her in a few hours or you can wait till morning"
"Ok" I sighed. It was killing me that I couldn't see her! I hadn't seen her since this morning and I was going to lose it if I didn't see her soon. A few hours passed by, I was getting tired; I hadn't slept in about 25 hours. I let out a big yawn and I guess it woke Daniel because he bolted upright.
"What was that!" he asked frantically looking around the room
"Me yawning" I said
"Oh" he said stupidly
"Hey, what happened to Liam?" I asked. I had forgotten all about Liam, last I had seen him was right before me and Amy left.
"Oh, he went to a friend's house" he said as if he really didn't care
"Oh"
Amy's parents came out "you two can go see Amy now" her mom said smiling
I bolted upright and went over to them. Daniel followed. We went over to the elathator and her dad pushed the 2nd floor button. We followed her parents to a room labeled 267. I walked in. There in a bed, in the middle of the room, lay Amy. I went over to her side and sat in the chair next to the bed. I leaned over and kissed her forehead and grabbed her hand rubbing circles on it.
"It's ok Amy, Drew's here" I said, "Everything's going to be ok"
She stirred. Her parents and Daniel were standing on the other side of the bed watching her.
"Drew" she mumbled.
We all stood there watching her with our mouths open.
"Drew" she mumbled again. She stirred again and her eyes slowly opened.
