Regina
I yawned and blinked the sleep out of my eyes, my parents' summer castle glistening in the light of the rising sun, making me smile at my husband.
Husband
The word actually meant something as it rolled off my tongue when I referenced my life partner, nothing like the old, cold, and cruel man that I was condemned to live the rest of my meaningless days with. The sound of rubber soles against the marble floors made my heart flutter as I kicked the sheets off.
"Well look who is finally awake." He quipped, adjusting the rough fabric of his blouse before leaning in to kiss my lips, running one hand through my long, curly hair, the other resting comfortably on my middle.
"Little one doing alright?" He whispered with a knowing smirk, I placed my hand on top of his and waited until we both felt the tiny flutter, a wide smile spreading on his lips as he felt around for more. "I think she's doing just fine, especially after you insisted that the doctor check on me every week." I groaned, but he raised an eyebrow at me and began to pace, frustration rising with my careless comment.
"Regina, it was blood! Lots of blood! I'm sorry I'm not a medical expert." He cried, but I stopped him in his tracks and pressed a kiss on his lips to stop his frustrated rambling. "I know, I was just joking." I winked, making him huff and lift me off the floor, wrapping my legs around his waist to the best of my abilities with my tiny stomach.
"So what shall we do today my Queen?" He asked before setting me down on the bed delicately, I sighed and smoothed down my silk nightgown before thinking for a moment. "We could go and finally tell your mother that we got married?" I offered, but he shook his head adamantly and tossed his cloak across the room with an agitated thud. "No, but why don't we tell YOUR mother?" He suggested with annoyance, but I just sneered at him and threw a pillow angrily in his direction. "Why don't I just tear your heart out and crush it into sand?" I grumbled, making his face drop, both of us now steaming with frustration and anger, taking a minute to calm ourselves down.
"Alright, sorry." He mumbled, I exhaled slowly and nodded back at him, slowly approaching him with my outstretched hand. "Sorry too."
I went to break the silence when purple smoke began to waft in the middle of our chambers, making me leap back and throw a protective hand over my husband, another one holding my tiny bump, my magic sparking from my palms.
"Regina..." Robin warned nervously, trying to push me behind him, but I stood my ground and watched as a message began to formulate before our eyes.
"Regina!"
A disembodied voice cried, making me drop my arms and slowly approach the familiar sound. The young whimpers brought me back to that horrific time in my life, the chapter that I had tried so hard to forget. I swallowed and looked back at my husband who had an uneasy expression across his stubbled face.
"Snow?" I questioned, approaching the mass of magic, waiting to see if she could hear me on her end.
"Regina! It's me! Snow! I know you hate me- believe me, I know I messed up. But please- father died."
The mention of that man made my throat go dry with fear, the very thought of him making my bones tremble, but I felt myself reverting my emotions to my instinctual reaction.
"Your mother, she's coming for me."
I grumbled in frustration and waved my hand, making the voice and magic dissipate before my very eyes, angrily pacing inside the room, fire shooting from my hands against the marble floor.
